Mail Problems...
Hi... After all our work trying to authenticate sendmail via Winbind, we have a weird problem right now... The user authentication, and the connection to both POP3 and SMTP is very slow, except for my own computer, that works very fast... And my computer is the only one in 1000+ clients... FYI, I use Outlook Express 6, but everyone at my office use it also... So, I don't think the problem is

HEAD problems...
Hi, after Andrew Barlett's advice I reinstalled my Samba server with version 3.0 alpha HEAD. I cannot join my Windows domain. With version 2.2.3a I used the following command:
smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r PDC -U ADMINISTRATOR
If I use this command with HEAD, the following message is presented:
see 'net rpc join' for this functionality
I reviewed the 'net' man page but it's

samba 3.0 -
How do I interpret what this mean?
@"prfmstrt2+Domain Users"
What is prfmstrt2? Is that a group created in /etc/group or the domain
name? I take it the +
is a winbind seperator.
I modified the separator to be + instead of /, which it appears as by
default because everybody seems to be using + for some reason (I thought
that was for nis). My domain is INS. I tried to use

Samba interdomain trust with Win2008 AD
Greetings,
I've been having some issues establishing a two way interdomain trust
between a samba server and an win2k8 active directory server. I've
established a trust password and object and was able to create a trust
relationship from the AD server to the samba server but I'm unable to from
the Samba server to the AD server. The purpose of this is to enable ADMT to

Problems Browsing
I have Samba 2.07 on Mandrake 7.2 distro. I am proxying a DSL connection
successfully over Squid. I do not have ipchains running but with all the BS
Mandrake like to pack on it's hard to tell what it's scripts all do. All the
tests with the smbclient on the samba machine work fine. Also all the test
with nmblookup. I have a clean Ping from both ends. When I use smbclient to
view my Win98

learning how models, controllers, and views pass data
As a noob to Rails and web development in general, I think I still need
a broader understanding of how Views, Controllers, and Models pass
information and variables to each other.
I''m creating a site that allows for email campaigns. I have a

Hi,
I have a server with Debian Lenny, and I installed samba on it. I do two
shares, one, a normal folder with auth, and this share worjs fine in all the
computers (Windows XP and Ubuntu Karmic). But the [homes] share only works
in the XP machines.
When I try to acces to the [homes] share from a ubuntu machine, I can't
authenticate, I mean, the auth box don't appear.

3.0.2a: Win98 can't connect but w2k is fine
After an upgrade of debian/stable-> testing, samba got upgraded from
2.x to 3.0.2a. And now my Win98 clients can't connect. To make
matters worse nothing is showing in the logs when they try to
connect. W2k connects fine and there is logging that they connect and
disconnect from shares.
I double checked encrypted/plaintext passwords on the win98 box, but
neither mode helps.
Any help

Linear and cuadratic effects
I'd like to know how to obtain a table of anova of a 3^2 desing with
linear and cuadratic sum of squares because if I use "aov", this
comand only bring me the linear sum of squares:

moving from aov() to lmer()
Hello,
I've used this command to analyse changes in brain volume:
mod1<-aov(Volume~Sex*Lobe*Tissue+Error(Subject/(Lobe*Tissue)),data.vslt)
I'm comparing males/females. For every subject I have 8 volume measurements
(4 different brain lobes and 2 different tissues (grey/white matter)).
As aov() provides only type I anovas, I would like to use lmer() with type
II, however, I have

complex data summary
Dear All,
I am interested in using R to summarize data so that I can THEN do some
additional analyses using behavioral data.
I study birds, mostly, and often behavioral data that includes timing. So,
for example, each line may be the occurrence of some behavior, and it would
include identifiers for species, individual, date, time of observation and
the various behavioral observations that may

Resumen de R-help-es, Vol 61, Envío 25
Estimado Javier Marcuzzi,

Help please! How to code a mixed-model with 2 within-subject factors using lme or lmer?
Hello,
I'm using aov() to analyse changes in brain volume between males and
females. For every subject (there are 331 in total) I have 8 volume
measurements (4 different brain lobes and 2 different tissues
(grey/white matter)). The data looks like this:
