Invalid Password or Username
I was using Windows 2000 Server with Citrix and Solaris 8 (04/04) w/ Samba 2.0.0. Home directories are normally mapped automatically to the H: drive when logging on to the Windows server through Citrix from the Unix workstation. I added Windows Service Pack 3 to the 2000 server and Samba 3.0.4 to the Unix server, and now I receive the "invalid Password or Username" pop up. I can

OCIError (ORA-01017: invalid username/password; login denied
We''re trying to deploy our system on a separate server and have run into nothing but trouble; specifically I get the error mentioned in the subject. The username/password combo is correct (I verified it via SQL+). Manually running script/server works fine in production or development mode. Heck, running script/console also works fine. It''s just that when it automatically

Incorrect password or unknown username
Dear ALL: I installed Samba2.0.7 on redhat6.2. First I chose the security = user, then I always could not pass test 8 or test 9 from win2000. The error message says either "access denied" or "Could not log int from the work station" while I am sure that the host allow parameter allows this computer. Also I set "encrypt passwords = yes" and created a smbpassword

Username is invalid
Hallo We have the following situation: Samba 2.0.5 on Solaris 2.7 sparc, using encrypt passwords. If the passwords on /etc/passwd and /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd are the 'same', the user have access over swat and can claim a drive from the samba server. Thats works fine. But if the user try to change the password, on the server in a shell or with swat, the smb daemon rejects the

Samba 3.0.20, Active Directory, Debian: Username ... is invalid on this system
Hello List, I have a strange problem: I have successfully added my debian system to the local active directory domain. Winbind works and gives me Users, Groups, and relations when I call wbinfo. However, Users cannot connect to a share I prepared. It makes no difference if there is no "valid user = " entry, or if I put an correct entry with my test user. All I get in log.winbindd is:

Can't reset password from windows 2000, or from the samba pdc. Error from samba pdc: machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the password change: Error was : RAP86: The specified password is invalid.
I have a samba pdc running 3.0.4. I have users logging into the profile server and wanting to change there password. However when they try to change the password it asks them for the old and new password but says they do not have permission to change the password. I can change the password for them when I log into the pdc as root but when I try to do it as user it gives the error: machine

Can't reset password from windows 2000, or from the samba pdc. Error from samba pdc: machine127.0.0.1 rejected the password change: Error was : RAP86:The specified password is invalid.
Salim, Yes I do have permission to run the passwd command as a local user, I can change the unix password just fine. It is when I do the smbpasswd command that that error comes up. Thanks for looking at this! Tony --- Salim Zakharia <Salim@mdsuae.ae> wrote: > Try to check if users have permission to run: > /usr/bin/passwd let user > try to change his password locally on

Network connections/username/password/gid
I'm running Samba 2.0.2 on HP-UX 10.20. Everything seems to work fine, except that sometimes, after an MS Word 97 document has been left open for a while (several hours), trying to save or save as causes Windows (NT 4.0) to pop up a message saying that the network connection has been disconnected, and to reconnect or reinsert the floppy. Generally, clicking "retry" has no

Samba from win2k client - "incorrect password or unknown username" error
Hi, I've got an annoying little problem with Samba and Win2k. I installed a Win2k Pro client on the network and set it to use plain text passwords and join the workgroup. The username and password of the user on the win2k box are the same as the account in /etc/passwd on the linux box. But after logging in, when trying to reconnect the mapped drives the windows box says: "Incorrect

winbindd_pam_auth_crap: invalid password length
Hi, I am using squid+ntlm-helper+samba+winbindd. Squid mailing list told me to try this one. When using the setting "Send NTLMv2 Response only" on my windows VISTA machines I get this error message in my logs. winbindd_pam_auth_crap: invalid password length. As soon as I change the setting to "Send NTLMv2 if negotiated" it works. Samba v3.2.5 Winbindd v3.2.5 Squid

Changing Password on LDAP PDC with external script returns 'username or old password is incorrect'
Greetings list! My issue: Samba version : 3.4.5 OS : Ubuntu Karmic I have Samba configured as a PDC with an LDAP (OpenLDAP with smbldap tools) backend. We have our PDC set up (with smbldap-tools) to expire passwords every 45 days. For quite some time this worked very well. Recently though, two things have happened that have changed our situation. 1) Using the setting ldap passwd sync =

Bug#23903: samba: samba maps username before authenicating with NT password server
Hi, I am the Debian GNU/Linux of the Samba package in this distribution. Today I received this bug report but since I don't use the authentication method this user mentions, I can't reproduce the problem. I heard Jeremy Allison said something about a bug in 1.9.18p8 regarding user mappings and posted a patch but since the patch is applied to the version of Samba this user is using, I am

Username DOMAIN\SAMBA_CLIENT1$ is invalid...
I'm seeing a lot of: [2005/05/16 08:35:46, 1] smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_spnego_kerberos(250) Username DOMAIN\SAMBA_CLIENT1$ is invalid on this system in the logs on my samba server after joining our ad DOMAIN, and accessing from SAMBA_CLIENT1 (also a member of the ad DOMAIN). Otherwise, it appears to be functioning well. Is this something to be worried about? -- Rex

Getting Samba to ask for Username and Password
Can somebody tell me how to get samba to ask me for a username and password when I click on my Samba server in Windows XP Explorer? When I click on another computer on the network (Workstation A) from a workstation (Workstation B) where I'm NOT logged in with a username:password that Workstation A recognizes as having an account, I get a dialog box asking me for a username and password.
