Still working on a Member Server
Going through the examples and reading through the wiki's I still have not found exactly what I was looking for in matching uid's and gid's. using samba samba3-3.0.32-36 We currently have a domain controller Samba/LDAP PDC. samba-3.0.20b-1 Previous member servers samba-3.0.10-1.4 and I went to add a member server. Now I find that users and groups don't match. So from

WG: Still working on a Member Server
For me getting a member server to work I did not need winbind just ldap was sufficient. Did you made the trust account? Getent group and passwd must give you all users and groups. You must be able to chmod domainuser:domaingroup on your Member Server. What I recognized is that the member server with samba 3.028 is much to slow. It takes too long if you try to connect over My Network Places. This

Bug with skip_before_filter?
There seems to be a bug with skip_before_filter using the :only or :except conditionals. Or am I using them completely wrong? I have this code: The result is that :test_filter is skipped for both index, and index_no_filter. application.rb # Filters added to this controller will be run for all controllers in the application. # Likewise, all the methods added will be available for all

ssh + pam_winbind error 'incorrect password or invaid membership'
Configuration: Samba 3.0.14a-1 (on debian 3.1) + winbind 3.0.14a-1 + krb5-user 1.3.6-2 I need help debugging pam_winbind.so in /etc/pam.d/ssh on debian. Samba is a member of an AD domain, authenticating access to shares via winbind+nsswitch.conf. Authentication to shares works great. Now I want winbind to authenticate ssh users as a pam module and it's failing. Below I show the output of

openssh 2.5.2p2/Solaris 5.8 problems
openssh 2.5.2p2 on Solaris 8 has PAM/cron problems. If I build it with PAM then cron quits working giving "cron audit problem." errors. If I turn PAM off then cron works but I get kicked out of any session where a password is needed (i.e. no .rhosts/.shosts or not using ssh-agent) with the message "Connection closed by IP#". I get through if I have a .rhosts/.shosts or use

I get the following message on the client terminal: Disconnecting: protocol error: rcvd type 98 Looking further, this message is actually caused by the SSH daemon. However, I'm at a loss to determine why sshd is doing this. I attach

Auth errors with winbind on member server with Native AD
So many people have posted this problem! The steps to debug need to be in a FAQ. The short question is: Can there be a disconnect between the short and long REALM names, leading to winbind-to-AD authentication errors? and How do I fix it? I can access windows shares or join a AD Domain with: mount -t smbfs -o username=johns, workgroup=ms //library/Source_Safe tmp/ --or-- net ads

Idletimeout patch, third attempt
Here is my third attempt at the idletimeout patch. I tried to address the points which Marcus Friedl brought up. It is actually bigger than the previous patches, but not as intrusive. It is big because it moves some stuff from serverloop.c to packet.c. - I moved all the logic to packet.c. This means that I also had to move the actual select() call, which used to be in serverloop.c to packet.c.
