Fw: winbind, active directory and solaris 8
I sent this the other day, but did not get any replies, can anyone help? Hi All, I have a sparc solaris 8 server running samba 2.2.11 (which i complied with winbind). The server has been running for years and has about 20 local users setup using local files for openssh and rexec logins, and samba shares. They each use samba to map to their home directory and a common shared folder. They also

NFS question (and Best Practices)
I saw in another post that a best practices doc will be coming, but I figured I would try to get this working. I''m trying to understand why zfs uses so many "zfs create" so I can use it better. What makes sense is that each zfs fs can have it''s own options (compression, nfs, atime, quota, etc). I really love this because it is so tuneable -- compression on these

2 Servers different gid?
Hi All, I have 2 servers both running a compiled version of samba and winbind. They use my Windows Active Directory for user authentication via kerberoes. All that works fine and I can see and authenticate as any user. Every user on both machines have the same uid, the problem is the groups from the windows domain have different gid?s on each of the servers. I am using nfs to export the

how to output something from within <% %> tags?
simple question: how do I output something from within <% %> tags? e.g. like ''echo'' in PHP. I thought it would be ''puts'' or ''print'' but neither seems to work. right now I always close the %> and open a <%= which is tedious. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Samba as AD domain member
Hi we're running 3.0.1 on Solaris 9 ( with NIS/flat files as the NS ) as a member server of the AD domain ( via kinit and then net join ). there's a couple of things we've noticed and I'm not sure if they're just the way it works or configuration problems: (1) we assign the gid an uid mappings with idmap in smb.conf and I thought that winbindd would not assign uid/gids if

Variables in LDAP userdb
Hi Timo, Is it OK to have dovecot variables in entries in an LDAP userdb? Say I wanted to set the mail userdb parameter to override mail_location, would it work by having an entry in LDAP (eg for mailMessageStore attrib) like: mdbox:/home/email/%d/%n:INDEX=/home/indexes/%d/%1n/%n:ALT=/home/email_archive/%d/%1n/%n and those % variables will still be expanded by dovecot? Or would I be required

smb.conf Parameters
Hi, I am looking at upgrading our existing Samba installs to 2.2.8 Some of the installations contain the parameter "shared mem size" in the smb.conf file. This parameter does not appear to be available in ver 2.2.8. Is there an alternative parameter or is this now defunct? Regards Jim Burns HSBC Group The HSBC Group's website is at http://www.hsbc.com

Non-installation of Samba
Hi, I am attempting install of samba 2.2.7 on a Sequent (IBM) Dynix 4.4.6 platform. I downloaded the samba-latest.tar from the samba website: samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/download.html Having unzipped and untarred the file, I then started as per the "how to", very first part. I ran "./configure" which generated a number of messages before failing as follows: ... ... ...

I want to do a linear regression where the coefficients obey two linear constraints, and also are all non-negative. What is the best way to do this? Computational speed is a consideration as I must do it many times. When this question was asked previously on the list, quadprog was suggested - is this the best solution? (I may have missed something obvious in the documentation, but I have

smbclient porting to Handheld device
Dear Andrew Tridgell and Samba Team, You have done a wonderful job in providing an excellent piece of software. I am interested in porting smbclient to Handheld device, mostly as a hobby. Please see my website http://vieka.com/. Because some of the Handheld OSs don't have the ability to access Windows share resource, specifically, the new Pocket PC by Microsoft, I would like to add this

peer timeouts and 489s
Hi All, I'm wondering if anyone can share any info on why I frequently get peer timeouts like below, and receive 489 messages from another A*k server on the same LAN. For the peers, we've one L2 switch. ICMP is <1ms. The CPU of the main A*k server is usually < 2%. So I can't see why we'd get such large delays. The phones are all Cisco 7940s (SIP 2xx) The 489 originate
