linux_set_kernel_oplock: Refused oplock on file. F_SETLEASE semantic problem ?
(Samba 3.0.21c / kernel 2.4.27 / Debian Sarge)
Hello,
One of my user open a file (located on a SAMBA server) in its
application, and when he tries to save it, he gets a "share violation"
error. (other people have this problem too).
This error happens since I upgraded the SAMBA server from 3.0.14a to
3.0.21c.

windows sysvol share
Hello,
I have manually mounted the SYSVOL share, sync it with samba and run
samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset.
But I'm not sure if all windows policies are acceptable by samba because of

windows sysvol share
Of course, the sysvol is located on a windows controller from the forest.
mount -t cifs -o username=domain_admin_user
//windowsDC.myDomain.local/SYSVOL /mnt/smb/sysvol
and copied the files with -R --preserve to

Below logs are provided from /usr/local/samba/var/log.smbd file.

strang locking behaviour with macosx clients
I'm running a samba pdc on my gentoo box in a mixed environment with a
couple of Windows XP clients and only a few MacOSX clients. The users
told me, the file locking across the platforms does not work properly
sometimes.
I tried to google my problem, but without luck. I switched all the flags
related the lock mechanism of samba on and off, but the problem seems to
be solved yet.

samba3.0.10
Hi Jerry/Samba Team
I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on Solaris8 server and Samba-client-2.2.10
installed on Linux Red Hat2.1AS servers
The Linux servers use Samba to mount filesystems from Solaris8 server.
My question is how to find out on the Solaris8 server which Linux servers
are using Samba to mount from.
Because it is hideous to go to every Linux server and see which Solaris8
server they are

File Lock Timeout
Hi,
I've seen posts (but no answers) about clearing a file lock on a Samba share. Presumably this kind of thing happens when the program abnormally terminates and doesn't close its open files.
I've got a file that smbstatus reports as:
1216 DENY_WRITE 0x20089 RDONLY NONE /shares/share1/Files/december.xls Fri Jan 12 12:51:30 2007

[samba 4.0] read only = yes + Denymode DENY_WRITE
Hello,
Our samba fileserver is a member of a Windows 2008R2 domain, and has
different shares. These shares are set with a "read only = yes" and have
an explicit "write list". This works as planned.
But when an "read only" user opens a pdf with Adobe acrobat, the file
gets DenyMode DENY_WRITE and the user who can edit the file can't save
the document anymore.

smbstatus show open files when none are
I recently (a few weeks ago) installed 1.9.18p8 in order
to get better performance with an Access Database, which along
with adding a TCP_NODELAY in the [global] section has that
working like a charm. Thing that's bugging me now is smbstatus.
When I run it I see open files listed when I know that they aren't.
The following output shows quite a few files open that aren't
really. The

Time to give back, Samba LDAP with FreeRadius
If this is off topic I apologize in advance. Using Samba 3.0.13 with an
LDAP back-end and FreeRadius I was trying to add the Radius schema and
kept getting object class violations. It's my limited understanding of
LDAP that you can not have more than one structural objectclass. I'm no
ldap expert so no email telling me how wrong I am. So I came up with a
another solution. Using the

File Locking problem
Hi, I have an SMB server running RH6.2 with SMB 2.0.7.
All the clients are WIN95, and require access to a database on the SAMBA
server.
The problem is that the database locks the file while the user is modifying
it, and then unlocks it when the user returns to the programs menu. If the
user then selects another action that uses the same file the program reports
that the file is locked.

File Locking
Hi,
I'm running smbd 2.2.8. I'm a little green when it comes to file locking
with samba.
I have two users that access a single data file on a FreeBSD box. It's a
moneydance data file and obviously it gets messed-up if two users are
writing to it at the same time. Is there a way with samba to stop a second
instance of the file from being opened, something like a "File In
