Authentication problems with Windows clients
I have installed Samba 2.0.4b on AIX 4.3.1 but cannot get it to authenticate Windows clients. The error that I get is 'The password is incorrect'. However when I use smbclient on the AIX box to connect to the shared resource it connects no problem. The only way that I can get a Windows client to connect is by putting the server into share mode and setting the share as guest allowable.

weird "valid users" trouble in 3.0.24
Dear Samba List, I just updated my samba setup from an older Version (3.0.22) to 3.0.24 (Debian Version). Now unfortunately "valid users" does not work anymore. I have a Samba Server with security=ADS (win 2003 SP2 Domain Controller) in an all local Unix Users Setup! Thus all my usernames are available either way, by Unix "getent" and "winbind -u". Probably this

root can't login to smb-ldap-pdc
Hi all, I'm using samba 2.2.8a and trying to set it up as pdc using ldapsam with a big help from idealx. I have a test pdc working almost the same except it doesn't have acl support and it's using 2.2.6. But I haven't configured acl yet on the new system. Both seem to have the same entries in ldap (even encrypted passwords for root are the same) but when I to logon with root to

Hi, Just starting on this list. I have samba (2.2.5a) on Linux/s390 and winbind authenticating and providing shares. I add the global to smb.conf: valid users = '@Domain Users' After that, I can no longer get the share even though I am in the 'Domain Users' group. # id poklcc+mikem uid=10001(POKLCC+mikem) gid=10000(POKLCC+Domain Users) groups=10000(POKLCC+Domain Users)

connection from a Windows station problem
Hi everybody, I'm having issues with samba. When I try to see my shares from a Windows 2000 station, I get the following error message: I've checked the log file, I could see that these errors always have to do with the /root/tmp folder, whose permissions I think it is allright: [root@printerserver2 /root]#ls -la ... drwxrw-rw- 2 root root 4096 Feb 9 16:54 tmp/ .. win2k will not authenticate when logging in
For a few weeks now we have been trying to research why our domain will not authenticate when we are logging in. The Samba logs indicate that our computers properly add into the domain, however after rebooting and attempting to log in we recieve an error message stating that our computer account is not in the domain. After reading the logs we have realized that Samba is indeed recieving and

another "Failed to verify incoming ticket"
Hello everyone, I'm sorry for this long post, but I think there is a real understanding problem for many people on ADS domain membership. I'm not the first to post about this type of problem, however I didn't find an answer to it in the archives and I followed the HOWTO-collection. Well, this is what I'm doing : I am using samba-3.0.1 compiled from source, MIT kerberos 1.3.1

Samba 3.0.2a - Erroneously rejects NTLMv2 but accepts NTLM
Hello experts, I?ll try and keep this brief but detailed (if that?s possible.). I?m sure I don?t understand the technologies sufficiently but I believe I?m seeing counter-intuitive behavior with my Samba 3 setup. What I want is nice, tight Win 2K3 security. What I?ve got is ADS integration, including domain user authentication using winbind, but I can?t get the security level right. Problem
