Memory overflow during cmake/ninja build
I'm trying to do a simple build from the git 8.0.0 sources. The sources
seem to build OK but a link step fails from running out of memory. I
need some clues how to figure out where the bottleneck might be.
The cmake command is:
cmake -G Ninja \
-DLLVM_TARGETS_TO_BUILD=X86 \

Can join ADS domain, all accounts/auth work fine, but leaving domain fails
Hello all,
As the subject says, as far as I can tell everything works on my ads
integrated samba server. Domain accounts can be used for ssh, and
accessing shares, I just can't leave the domain. Here is a successful
join command followed by an unsuccessful leave command at debug level 4.
Any ideas?
TIA,

resize images
Hi,
I am looking for the best solution to resize images to fit within a
certain area. The images will only be made smaller if they will not
fit within a fixed size area. It is important to maintain the same
proportions.
This ImageMagick extension looks promising:

However, I believe it may be overkill for just resizing images
sometimes. I have also seen a

Sharity anyone?
Let me start by saying I have been using Samba for several years now to
support "mission critical" data transfer and have found it to be a truly
awesome package.
I now have a need to also share disk space from NT to Unix. One package
I have found to do this is Sharity, does anyone have any experience with
it? How does it compare to Samba for reliability? Are there any other

Asterisk MIBS
Hi,
I was wondering if there are any Asterisk MIBS (specifically regarding
call information) ?
I noticed a post citing www.faino.org, but this site doesn't seem to
exist anymore, and The Book v2 doesn't have any references to MIBS.
Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Proposal for O1/Og Optimization and Code Generation Pipeline
When I worked on the HPE NonStop compilers for x86 (we used Open64, not
LLVM), we adjusted our -O1 to make sure the source display didn't
"bounce around" based on feedback from users. We disabled any
optimization that would move things across statement boundaries. We
also disabled/de-tuned dead store since our DWARF location list support
was pretty basic and with the removed store,

Win files from *nix?
How can I browse Windows from Unix?
I'm using FreeBSD 4.7, Samba, and KDE3. I'd like to be able to browse also
from command line.
I have not found instructions on use of smbclient-win32 and do not want to
use sharity. smbclien-win32 comes with and exe file and cygwin dll's - but
what are you supposed to do with them, copy the dll's to system or system32

Samba / rsync / archival storage question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi all,
Let me start by saying that this may not be, strictly speaking, a Samba
question... but it very nearly is so I'm hoping you can offer some help.
I have a couple of Solaris 10 machines with the Oracle-supplied Samba on
them. I'm looking to copy logs from BIND to an archival storage
location. Solaris 10 does not support SMBFS so far as

Along those lines, if someone's adjusting text in there, I'd tend to think
"rolling release" indicates that one

writable shares between solaris and windows
One of our daily jobs needs to process a lot of files on a solaris
server and dump the files onto a windows server. We currently use
sharity to accomplish this. However, the performance becomes worse when
the files get larger. We want to find another approach to do this. The
reason we didnt use samba was that very few users have unix accounts and
they need to have write permission to the

Appleshare IP 6.2 and smbfs
Hi,
I'm having trouble connecting to an Appleshare IP 6.2 Mac that is
doing SMB file sharing from my RedHat Linux 7.2 box. I've looked and
looked and looked at many things and many SMB clients. I've tried
smbclient, smbmount, Sharity, and even just doing a mount -t smbfs. All
of them come back with something of this form:
Protocol Negotiation Failed
SMB connection failed.

Unable to follow dfs referral - still a problem for smbclient & also freebsd smbfs
Hi,
Does anyone know if there has been any more progress on the problem of
browsing 'complex dfs roots'
see http://lists.samba.org/archive/smb-clients/2006-February/000622.html
Basically it occurs whenever you have a Microsoft Distributed File System
Tree where the links are to subfolders of the destination share.
Microsoft clients have no trouble browsing such trees.

ERROR: Can't create or use IPC area. Error was Cannot allocate memory
Hello.
I just installed Samba 2.0.8 onto a shiuny new FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE
machine, and all seems well from the client side of things - I can
smbclient to other servers and access files and the whole nine yards. I
even have Sharity-Light running and am able to mount shares that way.
However, whenever someone tries to connect to my machine, they get
denied, and I get this in the samba.log

hello,
i'm trying to connect to my samba server from an openbsd system
smbclient works perfectly from the client, but if i try to mount the
share using shlight it refuses the connection and logs:
negprot protocols not 0-terminated
i was unable to find any occurances of this problem,
i've read that the field should contain the host's name as a zero terminated string.

RE: INFORMAZIONE
Hi,
Best you discuss this with your HP support people - cifsmount is a part of
the CIFSCLIENT software (based on Sharity client), NOT samba.
Sorry,
