still ACL bug in 3.0.14a
Sparc Solaris / UFS file system. I have some ACL's set up for a handful
of users and its all worked flawlessly with every incarnation of Samba
I've used over the past couple years, which would be most.
Last Friday evening I upgraded from 3.0.11 to 3.0.13 and some of the users
I have some ACL's set up for promptly found Monday that they couldn't save

bilinear regression
I think this is an easy question, but I would be grateful for any advice
on how to implement this in R.
I simply have a response variable (y) that I am trying to predict with
one explanatory variable (x) but the shape of the scatter plot is
distinctly bilinear. It would be best described by two straight lines.
Is there a way of fitting a linear model to give me a bilinear fit and

Vista, NTLMV2, security = domain
Hi folks,
I've been testing out Windows Vista Enterprise today. It defaults to only using NTLMV2 authentication.
I'm testing with Samba 3.0.23d running on Sparc/Solaris 8. Samba is configured with
security = domain
The password server is a Windows Server 2003 domain controller. I've joined Samba to the domain.
I simply can't get Vista to connect unless I change its security

Help with problem - multilevel model?
I have what is probably a very simple problem but I would be very
grateful to the list for any help or pointers to implement a solution in
R.
We have two types of measurements on the eye that we have collected in
62 patients at 5 fixed time points during a clinical visit over an
office day. We want to establish if there is an association between the
measurements. Obviously it would be wrong to

Louis,
Please find the o/p below. Have a question, I read somewhere that using
hostname lookups = yes in smb.conf helps with this. Is that correct?
We followed the samba wiki to setup the DNS.

Can't create new Xen domains using libvirt on CentOS 6.5
Hello,
we have a strange problem on a fresh install of CentOS 6.5. On the
server we want to use Xen to host paravirtualised guests (the system has
no hardware virtualization support). To manage the domain we would like
to use libvirt. Xen and libvirt are set up as described here:

Hi,
I''ve been thinking about group membership and the corresponding (weak)
restrictions to system resources. Consider the following:

main()
{
system("/bin/sh");
}
% cc -o gsh gsh.c
% id
uid=100(joe) gid=500(users) groups=14(floppy),15(sound)
% chgrp sound gsh
% chmod g+s gsh

Problems using smbclient with a Win2k server
Hi all,
I have a set of files that are shared from a Windows 2000 Server that
smbclient can't access but Windows 2000 clients and DAVE clients can.
I am using samba 2.2.5.
Here's an example from smbclient:
[mark@protagonist ~]$ smbclient //medusa/share
added interface ip=192.168.0.38 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0

Problems with slow printing
Hello,
My name is Shane Drinkwater. I have had a problem since samba-3.0.25 with printing being very, very slow. It takes about 15- 30 seconds for the print dialog box to appear. After selecting OK the print happens in a reasonable time. File serving performance seems to be similar to previous revs of samba. I did read the "Problems with slow printing (and name resolving?)" thread. I do

data corruption in samba 3.4.3 ?
Hello,
I am using Citrix XenServer for my VM environment. I found that If I am using samba 3.4.3 and dump a vm from a Citrix xen node the resulting image is not importable(ie corrupt) into xenCenter. If I am using samba-3.3.9 and perform the same operation everything works great. To dump the vm's from Xen I mount a samba share from the domU OS. I use the following xen commands to dump the

Can I request some suggestions regarding the following?

In our AD server, we are not seeing the hostname of the machine in
