I am using Samba 3.0.4 on RedHat 9. This server is a member server in an NT domain. Everything is working find. I'm trying to better understand the use of the net groupmap commands. Mapping the groups on Samba seem to have no affect with the rest of my domain. For example, the account that is an administrator in the NT domain has no permissions in Samba. I use wbinfo -u to list the users. I

Hi, I'm a tad confused about something. I've got a production instance of Samba running. I am trying to get a test version running on the same box, with the same SID. Without the test server running, I used "net setlocalSID <oldsid>" (the net binary is the one for the new server). Then when I issued 'net getlocalsid' it returned it. I thought I was fine.

John: I wanted to add that I have no problem logging into the samba server with a domain account, as long as it's not through KDE. The first time error's out complaining about DCOPServer and not being able to write to the home directory....don't know if this is relevant. My experience is very limited on Unix and Samba. I have just struggled to implement a Samba Domain Server, and have some remaining issues. I have a Samba PDC using tdbsam, managing a domain called RHEA.
