re shape package - use one cast() instead of many
I have a data set that I'm trying to melt and cast in a specific way using the reshape package. (I'll use the ff_d dataset from reshape so I don't have to post a toy data set here. ) Lets say I'm looking for the interaction of treatment with each type of "variable" in ff_d. Using the command below gets me this. Subject will get a column and each treatment type by each

Web Based scheduler like LiveSupport for icecast
I've thought about it briefly (I'm in the same boat as you, but I've been tinkering with making my own interface) and I more or less came to the conclusion that it was more complicated than it was worth, for me at least. For my purposes having spoken content recorded beforehand, uploaded, added to the playlist and played back a couple hours later was good enough. What you might

Using machine account credentials for issuing standalone ldap queries against a Windows 2000 Active Directory server
Hello All, This might come across as a rather strange and interesting question related to using machine account credentials to issue standalone ldap queries against an Active Directory server. We are using Samba and use 'ads' mode to join the machine onto the Active Directory (net ads join).? Once the machine is joined to the domain,?we do not have access to the username and password

Failed when join to an existing Active Directory Domain
Hi, I've tried to update my samba AD/DC environment. Then, I've removed a existing offline DC with "samba-tool domain demote --remove-other-dead-server=genos". I've re-created "genos" (yes, I try to keep the same name and IP address) and install a 4.10.2 samba version (I know the new version is 4.11.0). When I've tried to join it on my domain, I've received

Dead Call But Still Active
I'm having a strange issue, and not really sure where to even begin to troubleshoot it. First let me explain that I have all agents setup locally ( local/100 at agents/n) A call will come in and ring to the agent. When the agent answers the call, they just hear a dial tone. Agent hangs up. Asterisk still shows the agent as 'in use' in queue status. And 'show channels'

Migration of Samba Accounts to Active Directory
Hi there, I run Samba 3.0.7 as an "NT4" PDC with about 30 clients - a mix of W2K and WinXP. My new boss wants to replace this setup with Active Directory, so our Sendmail server can be replaced with an Exchange Server. I'm having a crack at doing this with Windows Server 2003, and following this guide... http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/upgrades.html#id2605434 However,

Re: Active Directory Authentication working only for a subset of accounts-SOLVED
Apparently our winbindd_idmap.tdb was corrupt. We did a net idmap dump to get what we could out of it, shutdown winbind, net idmap restore, and restarted winbind and everything looks good. We had to chgrp and chown some small handfull of files but not many because luckily this server never made it to production (because we discovered this problem early on). On 2/6/07, Ramius

Add instantly active local user accounts *with* password using useradd -p option ?
Hi, I need to setup a load of user accounts on a series of machines, for testing purposes. I'm using a script to do this, but the only problem I have so far: I have to activate them all manually by doing passwd user1, passwd user2, passwd user3, etcetera. The useradd man page mentions a -p option to define a password, but I can't seem to get this to work. Here's what I'd like

Accessing multiple Active Directory accounts simultaneously from a single Linux server
Hello, I have been doing a lot of research on this subject and I'm not finding a clear answer. My company currently makes a video capture and transcoding application that runs on a Linux server. The video application mounts shares from a second Linux storage server for various users at the same time. In other words, we have: A Linux Storage Server with many accounts (for example,

PAM authentication to Active Directory
Hello list, I want to authenticate (only authenticate) through active directory with PAM. I googled around and everything I found, wheter it is forum posts or howtos, it always talks about winbind and joining the linux machine to the windows domain. I do not which to do this, I only want to get PAM to authenticate with the AD and then everything else is local. Should I use pam_winbind ?
