Is this how "trusted domains" work in Samba 3?
Hello all, Samba 3.0.1 on Sun Solaris 5.9. I need to get my story straight before I ask the people with the necessary access rights to do the Samba setup. I would appreciate it if someone could validate my story below. Thanks! Simon. The situation: * There are 2 domains: - EMEA (PDC=EMEAD01,BDC=EMEAD02) - NLRESOURCES (PDC=NLRESOD01,BDC=NLRESOD02) * Users have accounts on the EMEA domain.

Continuing problem with domain trusts
Setup: Samba3beta3 domain (NEWDOM) with a single PDC. No winbind activated. Uses smbpasswd for user authentication. Windows 2K AD (OLDDOM) domain with two DCs. I've been struggling to get a trust established one way with these two domains. Since I have a native W2K AD domain, I have to use AD domain tools to establish the trusts. I followed the documentation regarding creating a

make_server_info_info3: pdb_init_sam failed!
Hi, We have a linux/samba only domain serving files to about 16-18 Windows clients (mostly XP, a few W2K). PDC: SuSE OpenXchange 4.4 samba 2.2.8a openldap 2.1.4 Domain Member Server (DMS) CentOS 4.4 samba 3.0.10 I set the Domain Member Server up using the default passdb backend (/etc/samba/smbpasswd) to start with and that all worked fine. I would like to use LDAP for centralised

Transferring user profiles to new domain
It's been a while, but as I remember "Teach Yourself Samba in 24 Hours" by Gerald Carter and Richard Sharpe has an entire chapter which walks you through this process. pdb_init_sam errors on upgrade to Samba 3
Hi, I have been running Samba 2.2 on a server without any problems until recently. We're currently in the process of upgrading our aging NT workstations, and replacing them with new machines running XP Pro. Yesterday I was bitten by a printing problem, which I think is bug 1147 in the bug database. In order to fix this, I have upgraded the server to Samba 3.0.14. It's running Debian

How to get rid of the \\my_server\homes share?
Hello all, Samba 3.0.1 on Sun Solaris 5.9. I'm seeing both a share \\my_server\homes and a share \\my_server\<username>. For example: \\my_server\homes \\my_server\doejohn Or: \\my_server\homes \\my_server\doejane Both point to the home dir /export/home/doejane of user doejane. I want to get rid of the \\my_server\homes share and - in this case - only want \\my_server\doejane to

cant access shares on members of samba domain from windows domain
Hi, I have a network with two domains. DOMAIN A has samba 3.0.28 as PDC (I know its old but it cant be updated due to political reasons). DOMAIN B is a Windows 2003 domain. Samba PDC (domain A) has few shares on it and everyone can access those shares (everyone from domain A and domain B). In domain A there are also few windows machines which also have shares. I'd like for those shares to be

wbinfo & net ads different results
Hi, Could this a bug or misconfiguration? 'wbinfo -g' only return partial result compare to 'net ads group', thus unable to authenticate # wbinfo -g | wc -l 4998 # net ads group | wc -l 9114 # getent group | wc -l 5047 [+ local groups] Take a group dl.samplegroup, which is in the DC, but missing from wbinfo # net ads group | grep dl.samplegroup

yet another update of the Dovecot AUTH patch: 20051208
Wietse won't sit still ... removal of the lmtp(8) client broke the previous issue of the revised Dovecot AUTH patch. So I just redid it for the 20051208 snapshot: http://www.nodns4.us/postfix-2.3-20051208-dovecot-auth.patch.gz $ md5sum *gz ; ls -l $_ 32946afa424b3fbc04c8d9822e711e1f postfix-2.3-20051208-dovecot.patch.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 rob0 console 7287 2005-12-09 17:09

Mozilla port.
I have a very strange problem with Mozilla since I updated it to the latest stable. The font used on the menus are rendered extermly badly such as lots of white spaces between the letters, large blocky font. The font option does not seem to change any of those fonts which makes me think it maybe something to do with X11. However, none of the other things I use have any font issues... Any idea

Sipura Adapter SPA-2002
Hello. Has anyone run into problems accessing voicemail with the Sipura SPA-2002's? Our SPA-2000's work fine (registers fine, able to make and receive calls properly & also able to access voicemail). We've configured the 2002's exactly the same way. However, with the SPA-2002 we're unable to access the voicemail system (though it does register fine and is able to

Dear; Thanks a lot for guiding me. Is it possible that the installation libpri-1.4.11.5 newer than the libpri-1.4.11.5-patch? Well, when I typed (note: I am trying to apply the libpri-1.4.11.5-patch for the libpri-1.4.11.5): libpri-1.4.11.5# patch -p0 -i libpri-1.4.11.5-patch It gave me that patched detected as shown below (example of one file, and I got same for other files): patching file

Migration: server with smb 2.2 -> new server, 2.2 too, weird issues
Hello all at the samba list. The other day there was a migration of server; the old one had Samba 2.2 (.6) working normally. Every user logged in the domain without problems, their SIDs and the domain SID were right, everything was ideal. But a server update was needed, and a new server was installed, also with Samba 2.2 (.12). The difference in version is not important this time as other
