3.0.4: smbd's + nscd's = 100% CPU; load > 4
Hi Everyone,
the new 3.0.4 Samba installation seems to work find
except that from time to time but at least a couple
of times a day one or more smbd processes start
running at 20%-40% CPU each and 6 nscd processes
then share the remaining CPU power. System 70%-80%
users the rest 20%-30%. Load rises fast to over 4.
I'm sure that each such process is just idling,
but why does it engage so much

Antwort: Re: AIX openssh use of SRC control
Hi
I've finished and tested a patch to add src routines to openssh (based on the Redbook "Writing Reliable AIX Daemons")
Since a few days I have the O.K. to post it on the list, but I still want to splitt my patch file into logical parts
(SRC/Logging/Datatype fixes)

Dear Professor Ripley,
a. I apologise for not including the file. I sent the E-Mail to=20
R-bugs at r-project.org with an attachment, but the attachment evidently got=20
lost. However the text of the file is as follows:

substrings <- substring(characters,indices,indices + 5)

Fw: Antwort: RE: Re: Samba + Vista Issue
So it seems we've found the problem - just in case someone else encounters
it.
We had previously joined the Server with net ads join, and the
attributes were still present in active directory, and the vista
client tryed to force a kerberos blob on the samba server - which
was promptly ignored/rejected. The solution was deleting the AD
entry for the server and re-joining.

ok thanks,
do I need the DSA (Distributed Switch Architecture) driver support to
distinguish from which port a frame arrived?

Antwort: Re: Source for OCFS Support Package
Studying /etc/init.d/ocfs, I just realized KVER probably had to be
specified as 2.4.21-15.ELorafw1.
Like I said, I am far from being a Linux expert.

Ah, you have a problem with 'upsc' rather than with 'upscmd' like you
stated before. That changes things.

Antwort: Re: Source for OCFS Support Package
Thanks Sunil for your advice.
I tried that both for
ocfs-tools-1.0.10.tar.gz and
ocfs-1.0.12.tar.gz.
./configure --with kernel=/usr/src/linux-2.4.21.-9.0.01.ELorafw1
make KVER=up
make install
That was successful.
When I tried to load_ocfs I still got "undefined symbol" errors.
I found another ocfs-users thread from April where Wim suggested using the
i686 kernel
