Setting up Point 'n' Print
I am having some problems with uploading printer drivers. I follow the
procedures as outlined in both TOSHARG and Samba-3 by Example, and I use the
Add Printer Drivers Wizard to upload the drivers. It looks OK, and the
drivers make into the \\server\print$\W32X86\3 directory. But when I click
okay, I get "Printer settings could not be saved. Access is denied." This

failing to print 'point-n-print'
Samba 3.0.6
I have successfully gotten other printers to work using the
'point-n-click' method for downloadable drivers. However, playing
with one printer leads to failed results.
I have created the CUPS port/printer, added it to samba and then used
the Windows APW to upload the drivers. After upload, the print
properties windows readjusts for the new printer options - I have

Error loading LDAP functions, even though they are compiled in
Hi,
I'm trying to use LDAP as my passdb backend, but having no luck,
seemingly because the LDAP code doesn't load, even though I have
compiled in LDAP support. I am getting the following error:

Point n' Print + DeskJet = Access Violation
As described here:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-February/080219.html
(and on other places) some drivers will refuse to work after installing them
using point n' print. My w2k client gives a nice acces violation after
installing the hp deskjet 990c driver.
I checked "man smb.conf" and found some informations about the problem.
I tryed to set "default devmode"

Point n Print, Printer Settings Could Not Be Saved
Looking for some help on this. (like everyone else).
This appears to be a very well asked about problem and the advise is always
the same... Check permissions here and there.
My set up is:
OpenSLP 1.2.1
OpenLDAP 2.4.7
Samba 3.0.28
nss_ldap
CUPS 1.3.5
I've got everything working except the ability to add a "New Driver" from
Windows XP Pro.
Samba is running as a PDC / Domain

Point 'n' Print, issues after upgrade to 3.0.6
I've upgraded successfully to 3.0.6 finally. As part of that upgrade, I
configured the print$ share and installed the printer drivers into it. I've
been using the Laserjet 4 Plus driver with great success. However, when I
configured the printer to use this driver stored on the server, everything
printed fine except for Excel documents! Excel gives the error in "print

Upload Text File into a string
I''m trying to upload a text file from a form and read the file into a
string in my rails app. I''ve tried using @import_file =
File.read(params[:import_file]) as well as File.open, but I need getting
"cannot convert StringIO into String" errors. Anyone have any ideas?

Hello,
For no apparent reason Rsync is uploading the whole file even though the
the remote file is identical to the local file. Here is a transcript to

point n print driver deployment for canon ip7250
Hi,
Yes thats correct.
But try the following.
Make sure you use the usermapping.
username map = /etc/samba/samba_usermapping
containing:
!root = NTDOM\Administrator NTDOM\administrator Administrator administrator
And according to the wiki. (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configuring_Point%27n%27Print_automatic_printer_driver_deployment)
For POSIX ACLs:
# chgrp -R "SAMDOM\Domain

[LLVMdev] VMKit Boehm MMTk Compilation
For anyone who encounters this issue in the future, my issue was the
configuration of llvm-gcc.
Configure with --with-llvmgccdir=YOUR/PATH doesn't work, instead you
are supposed to use --with-llvmgcc=PATH/TO/llvm-gcc and
--with-llvmgxx=/PATH/TO/llvm-g++
That will at least get you past my error.
Best,
Kyle

help with static userdb
Hey,
This may be a dumb question... I'm trying to set up 1.0 with a static
userdb, and I'm getting stuck. I have:
userdb static {
args = uid=500 gid=500 home=/domains/%d/%n
}
When I attempt to log in as, say, kyle at memoryhole.net (via telnet, so
I *know* I'm logging in as that user), the debug log says that it

I'm trying to get the zlib plugin working on my 2.0 server. I started

now Dovecot complains that it's corrupted:

fix build failure on 64-bit parisc
On PA-RISC machines running in 64-bit mode, uname -m returns `parisc64'
instead of `parisc.' Thus, we must sed this to match like a few
other platforms.

Deleted usershare permissions maintain precedence over regular shares
I set up two usershares to share my music and photos read-only a while ago.
I recently decided to remove the usershares and recreate the shares in my
smb.conf with read/write access to some users. If the shares have the same
names that the usershares originally had, it seems that the original
read-only permissions still apply; however, if I change only the names of
the shares, I gain read/write

samba and openldap authentication issues!
Alight, I've been working on this for too many hours straight. Any
help would be much appreciated!
(I posted this online to linux questions, it could be easier to read
on there... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-server-73/samba-and-openldap-authentication-issues-637647/)
The problem is users created in smbldap-useradd can not login, unless
they also are a local user. for
