transfering users from PDC to print/file server
I have a Samba PDC server running on Fedora Core. I also have 3 samba print servers and 1 samba file server setup on RedHat 9 machines.
How do I make my RedHat file and print servers to get user information from the PDC so I don't have to set up users on every single server?
I appreciate your help!

LDAP, is just me or the Samba How-to?
I was trying to restart my LDAP service and used /etc/init.d/slapd restart, but it said "slapd: unrecognized service." so I tried /etc/init.d ldap restart and it says that restarts the service slapd [ok]. I tried to look for the service on webmin and slapd doesn't even exist. Is the problem on my side or is there a mistake on the Samba-HOWTO-Collection?

do I have to have Domain Name for LDAP
Do I have to have a domain name called EAGLES.com in order to have LDAP working with Samba 3.0 as my PDC?
This is from my "slapd.conf"
suffix "dc=EAGLES,dc=com"
rootdn "cn=Manager,dc=EAGLES,dc=com"
as I try to login from windows 95, I get the following message in the log file.

last chance...joining XP to samba+ldap domain
I have tried all I can and spent days trying XP to
join my domain. I have finally come to a dead end: I
don't see any logs in nmbd.log, smbd.log,
<xpclient>.log or messages. Everything seems to work
perfectly.
the only exception to what I said in the last
paragraph is the following message in nmbd.log file
as I try to join the domain.

"ldap_add: Already exists (68)"
As I enter this in the command line:
ldapadd -x -h localhost -D "cn=manager,dc=EAGLES,dc=com" -f base.ldif -W
I get the message:
ldapadd: update failed: dc=EAGLES,dc=com
ldap_add: Already exists (68)
Is that a bad thing? Here is my whole "base.ldif" file under /root/LDIF/:

objectClass: domain
dc: EAGLES
dn: ou=Groups,dc=EAGLES,dc=com

Samba PDC
Does Samba3 require windows machine accounts?
I need to have users authenticate to a Samba PDC and be able to run logon
scripts when authenticated, BUT NOT have to have machine accounts for
every user be setup.
In other words, can the user authenticate without his/her machine being
part of the Domain?
Thanks,
Rich
