Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do
I finally fixed my problem by removing samba completely removing samba and reinstalling it. What I discovered is it appears to be an issue with rights. When I reinstalled samba the /var/lib/samba had rights like this. drwxrwxr-x+ 5 root root 4096 2010-01-11 23:27 samba On my original install where the 5 is it was a 6. After the reinstall the rights the rights on /var/lib/samba was reset to 5

Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do; -)
Initially when I posted my access problems to print$ I was using the new registry based smb.conf I had my whole configuration in the registry. Now I move my printers and print$ back to the text based smb.conf and I copied the standard ubuntu debian [printers] and [print$] out of the original ubuntu package smb.conf and the only modification that I made was under the [print$] I change read only to

tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE with samba samba-3.0.4-6.3E
I learned the new samba configurations for samba-3.0.2-6.3E on a RedHat Enterprise 3 system. I could successfully create a domain master or a samba server to work as a connection to a domain master on another subnet. I then upgraded another system to Redhat Enterprise 3, copied over the smb.conf file from the system that was working as a connection to a domain master. I modified the

I'd figure that they just move you to an instance that's already running a newer version of the o/s, giving you time to test for breakage. I really don't see them charging, except, possibly, for running in parallel during testing. mark > > -----Original

Trying to 'Upgrade' to Samba 3.0 on RedHat Enterprise 3.0
Here's my situation: I currently have Samba (v. 2.2.7) running on RedHat 7.3, configured as a Domain Controller. Users are logging into the domain and everything is working fine. I must 'upgrade' to RedHat Enterprise Linux ES 3.0. I say 'upgrade', but what I actually have to do is a complete OS install, NOT an upgrade (there is no upgrade path to RHEL3.0 from anything

RH9 to RH Enterprise: PDC migration from one operating system to another
I had to migrate to RedHat Enterprise Linux ES 3.0. Actually I had to do is a complete OS install, NOT an upgrade. What this means is that I had to reinstall Samba and configure it. I'm using Samba 3.0.4-6.3E (a Redhat rpm) with smbpasswd as password backend. My pourpose was to be seamless to the end users. Without changes at PC users. I will be using the same physical server, but in

Seeking Beta testers for enterprise mystery service
A company where I work is building an enterprise-grade infrastructure system which enhances the usefulness of VoIP systems on the public Internet. We're looking for a few enterprises which are running Asterisk who would be interested in being Beta customers for our pre-rollout testing. In exchange for being a Beta customer, you would be entitled to free service through December 2005.

R on RedHat Enterprise Linux
Is anybody running R on the "Enterprise" version of RedHat linux? ...specifically the RH Enterprise Linux WS. I notice there are directories for 7.x, 8.x, and 9 on CRAN. Will one of these transfer over or would I have to use the source RPMs and go it alone? Any comments/experiences would be welcome. cheers... Brandon

Updates? Last samba package from RedHat? Cd images for update 3?
Dear Centos-3 Maintainers, there are several new (september) packages from redhat for RHEL3 especially https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2004-430.html (samba 3.0.6). Perhaps these new packages are not security updates, but .... I am having problems printing in current samba-3.0.4-6.3E which I believe shall be resolved with the new samba. Do you guys intend to rebuild last redhat updates, or

Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3
There have been several issues fixes since the 3.0.2 release of Samba. One of the most important issues is a problem with password changing after applying the patch described in the Microsoft KB828741 article to Windows clients. I want to run Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3. The version provided by RedHat is samba-3.0.2-6.3E. I can't find any other RPMs or SRPMs for RHEL3. Any help you can provide
