i cannot find kinit
the name of my active directory domain is
niit.edu.pk
so what should i write in this parameter
default_relam = YOUR.KERBEROS.REALM
also while trying to join the domain i eecute this
command
kinit Administrator@your.keberos.REALM
My shell gives me the error cannot find kinit.
can any one tell me where in my file system can i find
kinit

getent passwd & wbinfo -u not working
HI,
i had messed up with the pam.d so i did a fresh
install.
now after this fresh install some how getent passwd
and wbinfo -u is not working.
the rest of the commands
kinit
net ads join
are ok.
[root@NIIT158 samba]# wbinfo -u
Error looking up domain users
and getent passwd simply returns me to the prompt
after listing the names of the local users and groups
any know how whats going

Contradiction in samba documentation
Hi,
I have found some contradictions in the samba
documentation. i am writing them down here so if you
can please verify them.
in heading 4.3.3 of the documentation it says
" When samba is operating in security = domain mode
, the samba server has a domain security trust account
( a machine account) and causes all authentication

on the fly access and privilege determination
Hi,
I have a active directory domain of windows 2000.
inside AD i have three user groups. Teachers, students
and administration.
every user has his home directory created on the
fly. the umask is 0022.
now what i want is that apart from users accessing
there home directories there should be some other
folders too which they can access.

Clock skew and net ads join problem
HI,
when i try to execute the kinit command on my Red
hat 9 system with samba 3 i get the following error
[root@niit125 root]# kinit junaid@NIIT.EDU.PK
Password for junaid@NIIT.EDU.PK:
kinit(v5): Clock skew too great while getting initial
credentials
so how do i solve the clock skew problem cause i have
checked the time on both of them it is the same.

KERBEROS_V4 rejected as an authentication type
HI,
ok this is what the error is when i try to use FTP
to my linux box. before i configured kerberos this
error didnt come up.
i havent touched the pam.d( i have no plans of doing
so.)
i havent even touched the nsswitch.conf.
i just edited the krb5.conf file. and well the
smb.conf
one thing more. i thought i was using kerberos Version
5 rather V 4
but down the error uses V4. Now does it

setting up a file server in AD 2000 domain

we have a windows 2000 AD domain with a windows 2000 file server.
i wan to replace the file server with a samba file server.
at the same time i want that i shouldnt create new users on samba. rather i should force samba to consult AD domain controller to check for a user's authentication and authorization. e.g.

Office 2000
I have successfully installed wine in my Linux-Mandrake7.0 but having problem
in saving files in Word 2000. i got error.
"This is not a valid filename
Try one or more of the following:
* Check the path to ake sure it was typed correctly.
* Select a file from the list of files and folders."
I already did those but to no avail. Can someone help me with this problem?

offline logon in 3.4.7-58
Having issues adapting our 3.4 configuration that worked very well using idmap rid in 3.3.
It seems like winbind does not cache the credentials despite all of the settings being present. I can set winbind offline via smbcontrol and have it work, but if I reboot the machine (important for my laptops) off the network winbind complains that it can't find the logon server.

Order a vector and move to new vector
I currently have a data frame with a Fund ID and NAV value. Is it possible
to order the data frame and move to separate columns in a new data frame or
matrix in R without using a for loop? I suppose I'd like to use a built in
function to make it faster because I will have around 60,000 entries to sort
and my current program takes too long to do this. I know how to use order,

Passwords not returned without auth_bind ?
