printing issues - lprng
Hi,
I am running samba and lprng for 4 hp laserjets. Sometimes a
samba print job goes to the wrong printer. Normally everything works just
fine. Shown below is the lprng acct log file enries for the concerned print
job. Please notice that the print job was supposed to go to hp4050-mail,
but ended up in hp8100. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks

printing issue after update to 3.6.1
Hello,
we've updated to 3.6.1 yesterday, and since encounter
problems with printing for some users. There's a
descriptive error in the log.smbd, but I can't see
what to do about it really (the rest of the,
admittedly fairly ancient system, is the same base
system as the previous 3.5.5 - only a couple of security
updates were patched in during downtime).
The message in log.smbd is:

Typo in Samba HOWTO collection example 19.2
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
Since the samba-docs mailing list is closed, I figured this was the best
place to post this.
I believe there's a typo in example 19.2 ("Overriding global CUPS
settings for one printer") of the official Samba HOWTO collection. The
"print command" parameter in the [special_printer] section contains
several echo commands,

Bind Error with Sambe under Redhat 8.0
Hi,
I've installed and configured Samba under RedHat 8.0.
When starting up samba "/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start", i
have the following error in the smbd log file:
[2003/03/02 19:28:51, 0]
lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(804)
bind failed on port 139 socket_addr = 0.0.0.0.
Error = Address already in use
Thus samba never starts.
How do i solve this problem?
Thankx.

Problem with job removal
Hi,
We've been stuck with this problem for a while now and we believe I tried
enough potential solutions to justify my posting here.
We're using samba 3.0.14a in Sarge in order to allow printing from Windows
workstations (The authentication works with AD+Kerberos+Winbind) to a set of
shared printers. Printing works perfectly but we would like to allow users
to have control over the jobs

How do I get the @#$$% job name to show instead of smbprn.xxxxxx. xxxxxx?
Still at it....
Clients: Win2k SP2
Server: OpenBSD 3.2
LPRng 3.8.20
Samba 2.7.pre1
Printer: Lanier 2138
Driver: Ricoh RPCS
Tried: disable spoolss yes/no (on separate samba servers)
If I print through Samba/LPRng, I get
the document name of smbprn.xxxxxx.xxxxxx
displayed in the 2138's log.
If I print directly to LPRng through a
Standard TCP/IP port, I get the correct
file name

Is it posible to force Windows 2000 to send print job name?
Hi,
I need to log print job's. But Windows 2000 send me only 'Remote Downlevel
Document' as a job name (%J macro in print command). (I don't have other
Windows system versions to test it there, but from Linux}smbspool command)
it works fine - job name is "Remote Downlevel Document + job name"). Is
there any possibility how to force (or get) print job name from Windows

not enough charcters available in %J or confusing blanks?

Samba-CUPS interface
Hi,
One of our Samba server (4.4.5) is a print server with CUPS backend . In
addition we are using a print management product that is itself a backend
to cups.
Everything works well, except that the document names that are transmitted
in the chain is of the form : "smbprn.00000648 MyDocument.pdf" . I guess
that the prefix smbprn.00000648 is the samba job ID that is concatenated to

samba-3.0.0rc dc domain logon problem
I run for tests a domain controller and a samba server with
samba-3.0.0rc2. Domain users can authenticate locally on the domain
controller, but I get a logon failure when I try to list the shares on
the member server.
The error the user gets is: "session setup failed:

get "domain_client_validate: unable to
