some permissions issues
I?m facing some troubles with file / directory permissions... I log on the domain as admin user(root), and theres a pub share, on witch everyone needs to have permission to create / modify files, but when I change or create a file, only root can change the file, no one else. And then i need to go to server to chgrp users * -R and chown nobody * -R to allow others users to change the file.

Deliver question
Hi, I searched whole 2007-2008 mailing lists for answer but couldn\'t find. I think it\'s easier and quicker to ask here. Suppose I have a message saved in file /tmp/afile. How can I tell deliver to deliver it to user\'s abc at domain.com mail box SPAM? I tried two following ways but no success: 1. more /tmp/afile | deliver -d abc at domain.com -m SPAM 2. deliver -d abc at

Esteemed R users and developers, How does one 'programatically' list or call objects for use in a function? For example, i thought i could do something better than this: save(A.cwb, B.cwb, C.cwb, D.cwb, E.cwb, F.cwb, file="afile.RData") with something like these- prfxs <- c("A", "B", "C", "D", "E", "F") #**

I have a number directories under /opt on computer jack. I want some (not all) of them to appear in /opt on computer jill. I have the /opt directory on jack mounted on jill under /mnt/jack If I go into the /opt directory on jill and do this: ln -s /mnt/jack/opt/files . I get /opt/files/files on jill. What I want is /opt/files and I can't see what I'm doing wrong. -- MELVILLE

paste adjacent elements matching string
Hi all, I would like to combine elements of a vector: vec <- c("astring", "b", "cstring", "d", "e") > vec [1] "astring" "b" "cstring" "d" "e" such that for every element that contains "string" at the end, it is combined with the next element, so that I get this:

how to have 'match' ignore no-matches
Hi all, I think this is a very basic question, but I'm new to this so please bear with me. I'm using match to translate elements of a data frame using a lookup table. If the content of a particular cell is not found in the lookup table, the function returns NA. I'm wondering how I can just ignore those cells, and return the original contents if no match is found in the lookup table.

BackupExec Agent on Samba
Is there an improved BackupExec Unix agent available that works with Samba? If not, can someone tell me how to work around the lack of the archive bit that Linux has? In particular, RedHat Linux 7.2 is the system I'm looking for help on. I found the following hints in an older version of this newsletter, Samba Digest, Vol. 3, Issue 34, sent March 21, 2003, that had this in it: Yes, we have

an object of class lm returned by lm?
Can someone tell me what an object of class lm returned by lm means? I assumed it mean the regression model - but I'm not sure how to enter this in. I have tried y~a+b but this is not working. I have also tried saving the regression results and entering these, but again this is incorrect. This language is from the following: lm.LMtests(model, listw, zero.policy=FALSE,

[LLVMdev] question about PRE
Hi, I am Jill, I'm new here and new with llvm. I find that its old PRE.cpp has been removed from llvm-1.9 and the project homepage says that a GVN-PRE pass is being implemented. Since many PRE algorithms have been suggested, and I think PRE further differs according to the specific defination of equivalence, whether it is an "optimal" algorithm and optimal at what metric, etc, can I

Hi All, Thanks to everyone who has written wanting more information on when "Samba-3 by Example" by John Terpstra will be available. spatial modeling
I am new to R and have a question about spatial econometrics. I have noticed that you can easily test for spatial autocorrelation with the spdep package, but was wondering if any code has been written to correct for spatial autocorrelation? Or if there is any literature on this? Thanks. -Jill *************************************************** Jill L. Caviglia-Harris, Ph.D. Assistant

package "tm" fails to remove "the" with remove stopwords
I am using code that previously worked to remove stopwords using package "tm". Even manually adding "the" to the list does not work to remove "the". This package has undergone extensive redevelopment with changes to the function syntax, so perhaps I am just missing something. Please see my simple example, output, and sessionInfo() below. Thanks!
