mount.cifs doesn't do japanese?
On a FC2 system (which includes kernel 2.6.5 and samba-3.0.3), I am able to use "smbmount" to mount filesystems with japanese filenames on them by specifying codepage=cp932. But when I mount with "mount.cifs" the translation from SJIS to UTF-8 isn't done right: # uname -a Linux 5nave 2.6.5-1.358 #1 Sat May 8 09:04:50 EDT 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux # smbclient

I have setup Dovecot-1.2 'delivery' to use Dovecot's Sieve as well (both versions are latest from dovecot.org). I am curious if sieve can handle Japanese, or locale, in general in the language. In particular, the subject which is encoded even more complicated. if header :contains "subject" ["test", "???"] { So if I want to file based on above, test,

no charset ver. 3.0.0beta3 on solaris
Hi all This question came up several times in this list in the last couple of weeks, but nobody seems to have found a solution... so I post this again, hoping that anybody out there has the answer. I compiled Samba 3.0.0beta3 on Solaris 9 with the following options: --with-winbind --with-acl-support --with-included-popt --with-pam Starting the daemon or doing testparm gives me always: Error

Japanese Language Support?
When I installed CentOS, I was careful to install Japanese language support. However, now that CentOS is running, I can't seem to get Japanese language input going. I clicked on the top menu bar to add the "Input Method Switcher", and now there is a little white square on the top panel. If I click on it, gives me the option of using ASCII input, or to "Add or Remove".

Invalid characters when dealing with Japanese language
So I'm running uTorrent through Wine and it works for just about every download, but some downloads, particularly ones with files with Japanese characters in them, screw things up. uTorrent reports "Error: Invalid Name" in the status of the torrent, and I noticed that the files being downloaded have been replaced with a bunch of question marks where Japanese characters should be. I

How to run japanese app with wine
Hi there. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but I've searched a lot about it and couldn't find an answer so here it goes: How can I run japanese applications with wine? I've tried editing the Fonts section in .wine/config to use japanese fonts (like jis and watanabe) but the applications only display weird characters in place of the japanese chars. What do I have to do

Synchronising Japanese Characters in Rsync
Hi there, I have searched the rsync website, as well as an extensive search on google, but have been unable to come up with a definitive answer regarding whether rsync will synchronise files and directories which have Japanese characters in them. I am using an English language version of Linux, which has some directories shared via samba. Both English and Japanese language windows clients

GSoC - Improve Japanese Support
Hi there, My name is Julia Wilson and I'm a grad student in Computational Linguistics at Brandeis University. As a GSoC project I'm interested in improving Japanese language support, and I had a couple of questions for the application I'm putting together. I know Japanese - I'm not a native speaker by any means, but I'm pretty good - and I'm really interested in the

UTF8_LANG: a much better idea
I've found a much better solution; it's standard (in Unicode itself), simple and more flexible: Unicode language tagging. It was made for just this purpose, in fact. A technical description is at http://www.unicode.org/unicode/reports/tr27/#tag which, like all specs, makes it sound a bit more complicated than it really is. It comes down to this: mark the language of text with U+E0001

[PATCH]Add the Japanese keymap for VNC Server.
Hi All, My name is Takanori Kasai. This is a first time to send mail. I found the key that was not able to be input to HVM Domain (VTx and VTi Domain) through VNC Server with Japanese keyboard. I think that it is a cause by lack of some keys in Japanese keymap and the key symbol table in qemu-dm. This patch is addition of the keys for Japanese keyboard. My best regards. - Takanori Kasai

[LLVMdev] [cfe-dev] Unicode path handling on Windows
Guys, welcome to the too weird i18n world! We, Japanese, has got suffered for multibyte charset for 20 years. I have added a comment in http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=10348 . Of course I know, I don't think it would be a practical resolution. FYI, it seems clang can retrieve mbcs path with s/CP_UTF8/CP_ACP/g. E>bin\clang.exe -S なかむら\たくみ.c なかむら\たくみ.c:4:2: error: #error #error ^ 1
