LDAP setup on Centos 7
I am trying to get LDAP working on my mail server for both user authentication and addressbook purposes. I have tried the tutorials on both http://www.server-world.info/en/note?os=CentOS_7&p=openldap&f=1 and http://albanianwizard.org/ubuntu-10-0-4-lucid-lynx-ldap-configuration-the-working-how-to.albanianwizard (The second one is for Ubuntu, but claimed to be a complete and working

ldif invalid per syntax
Hello CentOS I am having a bit of trouble importing an ldif into openldap, tho the syntax looks a-ok to me. I am attempting to import my sudoers list into my ldap configuration and I used an application called sudoers2ldif to generate the ldif. I used the following command to import the file: ============================================= [root at bluethundr-desktop:~/txt/ldif ] $:ldapadd -h

NT4 migration errors
Hi I've setup samba 3.0.14 with the latest idealx scripts on FC3. Now I have a test lab to migrate from NT4 box which different than the standalone PDC I have running. Here's the order I used and my ldap and samba configs are clean as far as I can tell since I do get a partial migration. When using 'net rpc vampire -S nt4 -W DOMAIN' it populates the groups from NT4 and shows the

LDAP setup on Centos 7
Since posting my first email I have re-generated both the root and Manager passwords and re-run the setup. I no longer get the "Invalid credentials" error so presumably the problem must have been a cut/paste issue. I now get the following error. As I am a total newbie to LDAP and don't really know what's going on, I don't know what I need to do to fix it. [root at

When I run net add groupmap rid=512 ntgroup="Domain Admins" UNIXgroup="ntadmins" i get this error: adding entry for group Domain Admins failed! net rpc vampire is sucking my brain!
Trying to migrate NT4 to samba 3.0.0 or 3.0.1pre3 with an ldap backend. I add a backup server account to the domain and joined. Getting the SID and the ldap init seem to work, and I start windbind. When I run net rpc vampire all I get is a ton of "Could not create posix account info for " errors. Then ofcourse pdbedit -L returns smbldap_search_suffix: Problem during the LDAP search:

Need help with IDMAP storage in LDAP using Winbind
Hello @ll, First a small sketch of my working environment. There is one PDC, W2000 server, which contains an Active directory, so basically all the windows users are maintained there. And the Linux/Unix accounts are stored on a NIS server. My goal would be the following 2 things. Firstly currently all the Linux/Unix servers are setup with individual winbind setups to make the windows users

Samba3 by example problems
Hi All, I am going through a setup of a test samba3 box with rh9 with my self rolled copy of 3.0.10. I have removed the old rpm version of samba. I compiled 3.0.10 with all defaults except for the install prefix which I set to /usr/local/samba3. I followed the steps given in Chap 6 - making users happy in the online html version. I changed a few things. Instead of MASSIVE as the PDC name I

Samba, ldap and winbind - almost there!
Hi All, I'm in the process of setting up samba with ldap and winbind and haven't been able to find an article anywhere on how to do this. I've managed to troll together everything except the directory setup. I'm stuck on what I need to add into the directory (ldif files) to make it all go. I've included the steps I took and so hopefully it'll be easy to spot what
