Rename computer in a domain
Hello, when I try to rename a win200x/XP client joined in a Samba domain, I get an error (Access is denied), although the user I put in the dialog box has privilege to do it. In LDAP log I see that Samba does first a search with the old machine name, after it does a search with new machine name, but the entry does not exists on LDAP then it stops with an error. I then tried to clone the

Comment from OpenLDAP developer regarding "deferring operations"
I received this response from a member of the OpenLDAP core team when asking about meaning of the deferred operations I was seeing. Is it possible that this is what I'm seeing, Timo? -Ben --------------------------------------------- I'd note that if your client is performing search + bind on the same connection in an asynchronous manner, then the server behavior as per RFC4511 is

Poisson-Gamma computation (parameters and likelihood)
Good afternoon/morning readers. This is the first time I am trying to run some Bayesian computation in R, and am experiencing a few problems. I am working on a Poisson model for cancer rates which has a conjugate Gamma prior. 1) The first question is precisely how I work out the parameters. #Suppose I assign values to theta with *seq()* *theta<-seq(0,1,len=500)* #Then I try out the

New package: dtw - Dynamic Time Warping
Dear R community, I would like to introduce the package "dtw" for computing Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) alignments and related algorithms on timeseries. The DTW algorithm computes the time axis stretch which optimally maps one timeseries (query) onto another (template); it outputs the resulting cumulative distance between the two inputs, which is frequently used for classification and

[XEN][Ubuntu's Linux bridge replaced by OVS problem using XEN]
Hi, I have two systems(a laptop and a desktop) connected with an Ethernet cable. Desktop is using the Internet through the laptop wireless LAN. Both systems have Ubuntu 11.10 with XEN 4.1.2 Hypervisor. I have compiled OpenvSwitch-1.5 on both the systems as well. In Linux Bridge mode both can ping each other. Problem: LINUX bridge is used in both systems and both can access the internet but as

Is it possible not to have ou=Computers?
Hi, I seem to remember somewhere that Samba 3 can be configured so that you do not need real users for computers, that these users only exists in some tdb database. How is this possible? Can someone describe how to do this? Many thanks, Tarjei Huse

Joining samba server to Windows AD OU when OU has slashes in OU name
I'm attempting to join a samba server to a Windows 2003 Active Directory on a network I do not control. The admins are working to help me on this, but I am also attempting to be as inobtrusive as possible. To that end, I have set up a Windows PDC and another samba server (with the same configuration) on a private network to do my own testing without having to hassle the Windows admins and ask
