Samba3-LDAP PDC and SUSE OpenExchange
Hi all, I have setup a Samba3 PDC and BDC with an LDAP backend to replace my current NT 4.0 infrastructure. This configuration is working fine. I also am testing integration of SuSE OpenExchange and would like to have it authenticate logons via the domain LDAP database. >From my preliminary testing i have found that OpenExchange attempts an LDAP search for some information regarding the cyrus

Combining NFS and Samaba - file locking
I have a network where we have a main site with a PDC, and two remote sites with BDCs. The backend is LDAP which is slaved to the remote sites, Samba is 2.2.8a, the main server is part of the Suse Linux OpeneXchange Server, the other two servers are Suse Standard Server 8. What I wanted to do was to have users at the various sites map one drive from their 'local' server. Behind the

Strange delay in syscall close() on a large ext3-filesystem
Dear Mailinglist, this morning I had a very strange problem with my SuSE Groupware-Server SLOX 4.1. The webmail-access was very slow and even with thunderbird the access to my mailboxes was not okay. I rebooted the whole system, but the problem still was there. I thought, this may be a problem with cyrusd, but I realized, that the error was somewhere deeper in the system, maybe in the

Hashing for short pathnames
Hi, using samba 2.2.5-UL (on a SuSE-SLOX-System) we have to mangle long pathnames to short ones. We need this for some of our apps which generate batch-files (*.bat) for compilation. Normally this works correctly, exept for a directory named "Only_for_generation". This directory is mangled into "Only_~%0" (it' s NULL at the end). And this is the problem. In

calling a function with dynamically generated buttons
Hallo, I'm dynamically generating buttons depending on the number of rows of my dataframe. Every button is supposed to call a function which generates a plot with the values of one of my dataframe rows. My code looks like this: base <- tktoplevel() plotten <- function(mat, namen, titel) { midpts <- barplot(height=mat, names.arg = namen, main = titel, las=2)

how to save many trees within a loop?
Hi, I would like to save many trees created in a loop as different ones. I can plot them, but I can not get the whole tree properties saved. I paste the script below Also, How can I perform multivariate trees?, that is predicting a vector o values, not a simple scalar observation. Thanks in advance Angel for (i in 1:7){#loop para hacer arb arb=arb[i]#contador

Windows 2k/XP and roaming profiles
Hi I'm finding it takes ages to download a roaming profile from the server when I log into Win2k or XP. A 4Mb profiles typically takes about 2 minutes (and 2 minutes to write back when I log out). I did a test and copied the profile directory from the server to my PC. Running under Win98 takes 1-2 minutes. Under 2K/XP it takes nearly 5 minutes. However, a single file of 4Mb only takes about

XP load roaming profile only after reboot
Hello, I have a problem with Samba 2.2.5 and Win XP roaming profiles. All works fine. XP load the profile from the server at login and stores them on the server at log out. But if the user logs in twice, XP does not load the profile from the server, it uses its local profile also if the profile on the server is newer. After a reboot XP loads the server profile once again. If I disable local

Installing R-1.1.0 (PR#612)
Dear R-developers, I finally got around to install R 1.1.0 but had problems at the `make check' stage. After compiling the released R 1.1.0 version the `make check' stage stopped while checking the examples in base. There was some problem with the quantile function and the check stopped complaining that NA's are not allowed. But I assume that this problem is already known because

Lagging failed login attempts
Samba 2.2.8a on Suse 8 (part of SLOX system - no I can't upgrade until Suse upgrade the system) Windows XP Pro clients Are failed client logins on the XP clients logged anywhere ? How about non-domain member clients accessing shares ? I've been asked to provide a log of failed login attempts with a view to spotting break-in attempts (apparently auditors like that sort of thing). There

Profiles XP and Service Pack 1
Hi List, we have a 130+ PC network running windows XP on the clients, with win2000 and samba servers (SuSE 7.3 distribution rpm for samba 2.2.3 and SuSE 8.0 selfcompiled samba 2.2.5). The windows servers just authenticate the users, and provide some additional services (Terminal Server and some special software packages). Print- and File- services are provided by the samba servers. We

Can't print properly through server, only direct client->printer
We are having great problems printing from XP clients through our Samba server. We are using the Adobe PS driver, and are configured for automatic driver download/install from the server. Samba is 2.2.8a and part of a Suse OpenExchange server, printing is through CUPS. Printers are an assortment of different makes of Postscript (and compatible) lasers. Basically, we have 'wierd'

self-split plot on multiple device
Hello! I would plot more than 10 (this number is always different) graphics on a figure with layout like 'mfrow=c(4,2)'. There is some existing function able to open the right number of device if number of graphics is done or I have to build it myself with some 'IF.....ELSE.....'? Thanks. More roaming profile-Windows XP Data
Hello, I have a Samba 3.0.2a PDC that I have joined server Windows XP machines to. Joining the domain was painfully enough, but now I am having problems with roaming profiles. We initially thought the problem was intermittent, but we finally figured out that if the same user logs in again and again the roaming profile is found and login proceeds normally. When a second user attempts to

Samba 2.2.5-10 and Win XP SP1
Hi all, This is my first try on Samba as a PDC. I have managed to setup Samba as a PDC for my home network. The Win98 pc connects and validates no probs, but not the Win XP pc. The acc on the linux system has been created and is fine as well as the samba passwd's. The XP pc is 'changed' onto the domain with no errors, with the user name that will be used by the user to log on the

The elephant in the room: Oracle
So what does everyone else think of Oracle's announcement? http:// developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/10/25/2316221 I kind of think that they are going to be hurting RedHat (a valuable partner if you believe their deployment numbers). Oh silly, silly Larry. I guess the only hope that we have is that it actually increases mind share of RHEL and hence broader support for it (and
