password expires in 10 days no matter what Win2k Sp2 (All critical updates)
No matter who I log in as, I always get the message, Password expires in 10 days. Checking the /etc/shadow file shows that it is set to 99999 which means it shouldn't expire. I am using Samba 2.2.2, Win2k with SP2 and all critical updates. I searched deja news for this problem and I couldn't find anyone else who is having this problem. Not that this matters, here is the log.jweber file

Different networks between Dom0 and Guest?
Hi, I''m running SLES10 SP1 with xen 3.0.4 and windows 2003 server as guest. Is it possible to assign ips from different networks to Dom0 and Guest, e. g. 172.27.10.1/24 for Dom0 and 172.27.15.1/24 for Guest? I tried it, but I can''t reach the Guest. If it''s possible, what should I have to configure? Thanks! Nicole _______________________________________________

pam_winbind fails with "never expires" password
I'm helping a school district set up Samba for staff/student shares. The PDC/BDCs are running NT4. Samba is v 3.0.23a on Fedora Core 5 boxes. winbind is mapping the users. Access to shares through Windows clients or smbclient works perfectly. There is a desire to have some faculty access the server using, e.g., an ssh client (mostly for remote file access). When I try to log in

Followup re: pam_winbind and "never expires" passwords
More info on the problem that users could access shares, but not login, if their passwords were "expired" by days, but had "password never expires" flagged. During further experimentation, I discovered (I'm not a Windows person) that in addition to flagging a user as "password never expires", there is an account policy flag specifying the same thing globally.

expires
When the expire cronjob actually finds a folder needs pruning, does it then purge the row from the database? Or could it update the row with the "new" oldest message's expiration time? I guess I can test this for myself. I did just learn that emptying the Trash removes the row from the expires db. . . I had misconfigured expires here, and think I fixed it, but in checking

Password expires today with Samba PDC
FYI: I tried to search the mailing list archives but apparently it's broken.. Anyway, I've just finished a conversion from an NT domain to a Samba-as-PDC domain with W2k/SP2 and NT4/SP6 clients. When logging in, they are always prompted with "Your password expires today, would you like to chage it? Yes/No". Even if I change the password, it persists.. I found something

How to get password expiration?
I was thinking of maybe putting a request update password expire time on login and have a system user go find the expire times. with ldap or something? It could put a file in the users home directory with a timestamp of when the user's password expires. Ex: In the bashrc or tcshrc (the global ones) add a line like so touch /tmp/requestpwexpupdate/${USER} and have a cronjob the searches

Password expires
Hello! My users get warnings about their passwordss expiring. I dont want them to need to change password. I set the Accountpoliicy for max. passwd age to 0 but that doesn't affect the expiration date. What is the correct way to do it? Thanks in advance! CentOS 3 and openswan > 2.2.1
Hi, is there anybody running centos3 (el3) with a standard kernel 2.4.32 or newer, because it seems openswan versions > 2.21 don''t run with centos3(el3) anymore. But we need the newer openswan versions. Problem arise when I try to build the ipsec.o module: /usr/src/openswan-2.4.4/linux/net/ipsec/ipsec_init.c /usr/src/openswan-2.4.4/linux/net/ipsec/ipsec_init.c: In function

Problems with password policy in Samba 3.0.4
Have an issue with password policy in Samba 3.0.4 with tdbsam password backend on RedHat 8.0. This issue was observed with an up-to-date Windows XP client, NT's SRVTOOLS on Windows 2000. I can set password policy (expiration, length, etc.) using usrmgr.exe from the Windows NT Server Tools. After setting policy, when I execute 'pdbedit -Lv someuser', it does not display the correct

Pdbedit again...
Hi, I have to edit all my samba users password expiration time and users full names. (I changed from samba 2.2 to 3.0 today.) But pdbedit doesn't work. example command: pdbedit -r -u %user% -f "%NAME%" I installed samba 3.0.5-2.src.rpm from samba.org on RedHat ES 3. Is it still a bug? Thanks! Nicole

Some hint reading password expiration data...
Mandi! Rowland Penny via samba In chel di` si favelave... > The main problem here is that you are still looking at the problem from > the NT perpective, Seems obvious to me. I came from 10+ years of experience on Samba3 NT domains, that indeed had excellent documentation and a more (for me) UNIX-minded approach. I was (ab)used at samba tools (smbpasswd, pdbedit, wbinfo, ...), and i can
