The Wrong Choice: Locked in by license restrictions
A colleague pointed me to this article advocating R as a Matlab substitute. Here is the link (deliberately on two lines: http://searchenterpriselinux.techtarget.com/ originalContent/0,289142,sid39_gci902076,00.html I'm not a Matlab user, but I understand that it provides a nice front end to the Linpack collection of numerical linear algebra routines. My friend and I wonder if R can really

USRMGR, groups, and ldap
I currently have samba version 3.0.23 installed using ldap as the backend. I am experiencing the same problems as Holger Wesser mentioned in his posting "USRMGR.exe not working properly". However, it appears that the fix of creating the group mappings does not work. They appear to be mapped correctly on my setup. My net groupmap list is: Domain Admins

Re: USRMGR, groups, and ldap
I was experiencing the same problems as detailed below. I found that my OpenLDAP Samba (samba.schema) in /etc/ldap/schema was out of date; I have now replaced it with the latest version from the Samba source (3.0.23d). The correct number of domain groups are now reported with 'net rpc info' and the groups are visible from the Windows XP dialog boxes and USRMGR. Regards, Jon

everyone acl
Howdy all, I was wondering if there was a known bug with the everyone acl. When looking at the security tab on windows the everyone acl has the read permission. If I unselect it to give everyone no permission and hit apply, read becomes checked again. If I select deny everyone read, then a warning pops up saying this will deny read for all users and it does. If after that I give read to another

If a file is created on the source machine on monday, then rsync'd to the rsync server on monday night, then deleted on the source machine tuesday, then it will be deleted from the rsync server on tuesday night when the cron job runs again. But, would rsync under any circumstances,

NUT Christmas mail
Dear NUT users and developers, Like the other years, before taking a small rest, here are some news related to NUT. * First, you should have seen the 2.0.5-pre1 release announcement. I don't think 2.0.5 is very far, but I realized that I've made an archive including the .svn directory (bad, bad me. I should know that release are made against exported svn, not checked out!) * Next,

libvirtError: this function is not supported by the connection driver: virDomainSnapshotNum
I tried to create && open a snapshot of xen and the error appears. Is there anyway to support xen snapshotting with libxl/libvirt? This blog http://searchservervirtualization.techtarget.com/tip/Creating-snapshots-in-Xen-with-Linux-commands offers two way to backup xen vm with linux commands, can we integrate it into libvirt?
