Problems making use of 2K PDC
I'm having problems with samba using the 2K PDC. I've gotten it to successfully join the 2K PDC via smbpasswd. Winbindd is running and I can ping it. I've tried googling, but was unsuccessful at finding something useful. The Windows 2K event viewer shows: The session setup from the computer DATASRV failed to authenticate. The name of the account referenced in the security database is

Samba 3.0.4 + OpenAFS 1.2.11 and fake-kaserver
I'm trying to build the --with-fake-kaserver option in 3.0.4 on RHEL 3.0. I'm using the srpms provided on the samba.org site (http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/bin-pkgs/RedHat/SRPMS/samba-3.0.4 -1.src.rpm). My OpenAFS version is 1.2.11, rpms (openafs-1.2.11 and openafs-devel-1.2.11) provided from openafs.org. It compiles fine if I omit the --with-fake-kaserver configure option.

samba as win2k
Hi, is it possible for samba 2.2.4 to register itself as win2k (nt 5.0). I need it because of a win2k domain serwer which I must use and whose security policy disallows clients older than Windows 2000. problems with win2k +winbindd
Hi, I've installed samba with winbindd to share user accounts with a win2k server. I've done everything as in the winbindd man page, but wbinfo returns something like: 0xc0000022. I've included outputs from commands (all with parameters -d 100 -s /etc/smb.conf; wbinfou, wbinfog, wbinfot stands for wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g wbinfo -t respectivly). freebsd-update and surces of 9.1-RC3
Hi! I'm trying to use freebsd-update for first time. I have 9.0-RELEASE installed without sources and I have read Handbook chapter and manual page for freebsd-update. "freebsd-update -r 9.1-RC3 upgrade" downloaded updates, its "install" command installed kernel and after reboot second "install" invocation installed binaries but not source tree that is needed to

portmap & tcpwrappers
I don't know if this is RedHat 5.1 specific, but be aware that the version of portmap distributed is the enhanced (Wietse Venema) version. That's great, except for two things. The first is documented, but easy to overlook: "In order to avoid deadlocks, the portmap program does not attempt to look up the remote host name or user name...The upshot of all this is that only network

samba-3.02a running on Unix
Have a question regarding samba-3.02a running on Unix system that is also networked to a couple of Win NT computers everything in /usr/samba-3.02a/var directory was deleted by accident including the Locks directory. I was able to copy this (var directory) from a recent backup of my System disk to the working system disk on the computer. Will the /usr/samba-3.0.2a/var now work (including teh Locks

patch to ssh.c for KerberosTgtPassing and readability patches for config files and manpages
Hey All, Found a very minor problem with client implementation of KerberosTgtPassing command line flag in ssh.c (first diff). We also made some readability patches to the config files and manpages to make the option clearer (the remainder of the diffs). diffs are against -current Index: ssh.c =================================================================== RCS file:

Running system: SuSE 7.2 (kernel 2.2.4) & samba-3.0.0beta1. There is coexisting Win(Millennium) system at the server (reason: many win partitions MUST be directly available at the central unit under windows after rebooting to windows). People connect their laptops (with small HD and Win2k SP2) to central unit and samba offers shares with Linux accounts. However, there are many win

3.0.2 AFS login problem, Solaris 2.5.1
I've been beating myself senseless trying to build OpenSsh 3.0.1 on Solaris 2.5.1 and get AFS login working. The symptoms of the problem are: sshd builds (used --with-afs and -with-kerberos4 - there is no PAM on this box), accepts connections from non-AFS users, but does not accept a connection from an AFS user; the user sees "permission denied" after entering the password. Issues with 3.02a
I have been running MDK 9.2 with Samba 2.28a for it feels like over a year. I upgraded to Samba 3.02a and the network seems to be slower, I have had numerous issues, which were finally resolved, when I restart samba3, it takes forever. Is this isolated or are others having the same issues?

3.0.23 + afsacl build problem
Hi! I've tried to compile samba 3.0.23rc2 --with-vfs-afsacl --fake-kaserver, but I've got errors. The first error and its solution is: I've to add -lssl to the LIBS line in the top level Makefile. Then I've got this: Compiling modules/vfs_afsacl.c with -fPIC modules/vfs_afsacl.c: In function `new_afs_ace': modules/vfs_afsacl.c:145: warning: passing arg 2 of

Migrating from 2.2.8a to 3.02a
Hi, I've been going nuts for the last couple of days with the issue of migrating from MDK 9.1/Samba 2.2.8a to MDK 10.0/Samba 3.02a. The backend is LDAP. Going through the documentation it seemed like everything would be sort of simple: Install new machine, setup smb.conf as BDC, rsync every share (including homes, netlogon and profiles) across, set ldap admin password in secrests.tdb,
