samba - Sep 2016 - samba-3.02a running on Unix

Have a question regarding samba-3.02a running on Unix system that is also
networked to a couple of Win NT computers

everything in /usr/samba-3.02a/var directory was deleted by accident including
the Locks directory. I was able to copy this (var directory) from a recent
backup of my System disk to the working system disk on the computer. Will the
/usr/samba-3.0.2a/var now work (including teh Locks directory) with the older
file directory added back?

I think you should be OK.   If you are using winbind any existing SID to 
UID/GID mappings may be lost but will should regenerate.
