other flavors of Unix
I downloaded the source 2.2.5.tar file, untarred it, and ran through the config.guess and configure scripts. I'm running on a Concurrent PowerMaxion Motorola Unix version 4.1.3..... With a new config.guess script I was able to run more of the configure script but it bombs out on oplocks..with a message stating that running samba would be unsafe without locking... What can I do to get around

RE: [S] R for UNIX on Intel platform
You may get more response by posting this question on the R news list: r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch As for using R on Solaris, its easy to compile, looks and acts almost exactly like S-Plus 3.X. I use R on Sparc Solaris every day. -Greg > -----Original Message----- > From: Stafford Phillip-APS095 [mailto:phillip.stafford at motorola.com] > Sent: Monday, April 01, 2002 12:11 PM > To:

Installation of Samba on SVR3 unix
Hi I have attempted to install Samba on an ageing Motorola running SVR3. Unfortunately it has a limitation of 14 characters for filenames, which means that when I untar the package, many of the files are not created. Does anyone have a solution to this problem, or am I stuck? Many thanks -- Pete ---------------------------------------------------------------- morph@morhp.dircon.co.uk

Wow. I wasn't expecting such a voluminous reply -- some I agree with and some I don't. My apologies for an equally voluminous reply. Files get written with sections of log in them - destroying files.
Hello! I'm having a problem with Samba 3.0.4 on a HP-UX 11.00 server. The problem is, that sometimes files don't get written properly; ie. somewhere in the middle of the file, I find a section of logs. You can find a sample file at http://stuff.alexander.skwar.name/Delphi/HP-UX/Samba/broken-samba-file.prt If you open the file with a "binary" editor and have a look at bytes

Overlooked? Windows can't create folders/files with long file names
The message below, from A, Skwar, appeared last summer. Just in case it got overlooked during vacation time, can anyone comment? I have an example as follows: Every profile contains a foldername "My Recent Documents" which gets changed during a copy to samba disk to "Recent"!! Many similar problems. Also: Special Folder Icons on the screen get changed to generic folder

Setting up 1.6.2.9 on Debian 6.0 Squeeze
Hello. I would need some help trying to setup Asterisk 1.6.2.9-2+squeeze1 on a Debian 6.0 system. I'd like to use the Debian packages, hence the "strange" version number? Since I'm new to Asterisk, I'm trying to follow "The Asterisk Book" at http://www.the-asterisk-book.com/unstable/minimale-telefonanlage.html and created a VERY basic sip.conf; see

Add an example to the community page and contribute more code
Hi guys.I've finished an example indexer which acts like a grep replacement for a file.It indexes each line containing a proper noun in a given text file. The line containing the proper noun will be displayed upon searching for that noun.I would like to add it to the community code examples.I'm planning to write more examples which demonstrate some advanced features of Xapian along similar

How to beat Google aka Xapian & Natural Language Processing.
Xapians! If tomorrow Xapian search engine would achieved the same performance and result in searches as Google we would not be able to beat Google, because we would create only a copy of the searches that already exists from Google search engine. However there is a way to beat anyone, and there is a way to beat Google successfully as well just do not give up. Some see it as implementing Ajax, or

ls and getfacl hanging with nt authentication
I have Samba 3.0.2a running on Solaris 8 compiled with winbind and authenticating against an NT domain. every time I run a "ls -l" or "getfacl" the command line hangs as it's tries to pull down all the user/group details from the domain. I heard this may have something to do with nscd (nameservice cache daemon?) which is running on the solaris machine. Any thoughts

How to join a linux machine to a "pure" Active DirectoryDomain using Samba 3.0alpha21?
net ads join will add your samba box to the windows 2000 domain, and the domain does not have to support mixed mode. You will need to have kerberos setup and tested on your system (linux). Do you already have this done? Errol ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Alexander Skwar <lists.ASkwar@email-server.info> Reply-To: Samba Liste
