Merely Opening Excel Files Increments Last-Modification date on Samba Shares
I have had the same problem: Shared files, not owned by the user in question, were being deleted and re-written upon saving the file. Because Excel only gives user (not group) permission, it will muck up access for other users in the group. In my case, I was not enforcing anything (when the problem occurred) and my .conf only had the bare minimum of information, I also used method 3, but put a

Merely Opening Excel Files Increments Last-Modificationdate on Samba Shares
I have found the following regarding this problem: 1. It occurs only on files that (a) the user does not own AND (b) samba is forcing write permissions on (e.g. with the "force group" or "force create mode"). 2. Problem does *not* occur when "force create mode" and similar are left out of share definition, and you rely on the default standard 644 file modes and 755

Windows Explorer - Samba Listing beside each Mapped D rive
Edit you smb.conf file. In RedHat I believe this is located in /etc/samba/smb.conf Look for the line you want to get rid of and fill it in with what ever you want. Its just a description field. Samba just Slow with AutoCad?
Brian I might suggest a couple of setting changes on your XP machines: 1) Open services and stop/disable Web Client 2) Open windows explorer, go to tools>folder options, click the View tab, and uncheck the "Automatically search for network folders and printers" (I'm assuming Windows XP Professional on these settings) Restart and try your printers again. using UPN instead of samaccountname with winbind
Hello, I have winbind authentication working my a win2003 AD, however, I have to authenticate using DOMAIN+samaccountname right now. I would prefer to use the UPN. The UPN in my case is their full email address username@domain.com. The context for this authentication could be anything that pam supports. How can this be done? I am using samba-3.0.28 on Centos 5. Thanks! Terry

Extra "Note" in CRAN submission
When I run R CMD check on the survival package I invariably get a note: ... * checking for file ?survival/DESCRIPTION? ... OK * this is package ?survival? version ?3.2-6? * checking CRAN incoming feasibility ... NOTE Maintainer: ?Terry M Therneau <therneau.terry at mayo.edu>? ... This is sufficient for the auto-check process to return the following failure message: Dear maintainer,

ACL's and permissions
I'm really struggling with ACL's and permissions. I have a share owned by a user (douglas). Douglas can read, write and create to the share: [public] comment = Public Stuff path = /home/samba/pub nt acl support = yes public = yes admin users = douglas write list = douglas I'm logged in to Win2000 as douglas. Through the security tab on Win2000 I add read and

ACL's vs Share definitions (Trying again)
I have the Win2000 client(s) in a Samba domain. Domain authentication works fine, my "homes" share works fine, remote profiles work fine. Using 3.0.1Pre1 I would like to add people to "someshare" through the Security tab, and control their access through windows ACL's. How should I setup a share as a basis for doing this? The share below (someshare) in this email

How to optimize out the duplicated memory load instructions?
Hi Johannes, Silly as me. I just figured out how to correctly use 'alias' metadata. I should define them in IR like below: !3 = !{!3} !4 = !{!4} !5 = !{!5, !3} !6 = !{!6, !4} And then use !5 and !6. The below usage is wrong: !3 = !{!3} !4 = !{!4} Then use !3 and !4 in IR. BR, Terry On Fri, Jul 24, 2020 at 12:12 AM Johannes Doerfert < johannesdoerfert at gmail.com> wrote:

Mongrel Console 0.1 -- script/console meets mongrel
This is a super quick announcement for a new Mongrel plugin called mongrel_console. It was inspired by a request from Tobias L?tke who wanted to tail out logs while Mongrel was running. What mongrel_console does is combine the Rails script/console with Mongrel so that you can control a mongrel server while using script/console. Sounds weird but it''s quite awesome for development

R CMD check error
Martyn, No, that didn't work. One other thing in the mix (which I don't think is the issue) is that I call one of the C-entry points of expm. So the DESCRIPTION file imports expm, the NAMESPACE file imports expm, and the init.c file is #include "R.h" #include "R_ext/Rdynload.h" /* Interface to expm package. */ typedef enum {Ward_2, Ward_1, Ward_buggy_octave}
