logon script question
Hi list
I'm wondering if it and how it is possible to add printers to a
workstation with a logon script like mounting shares. I can't find
anything about this on the inetnet so is this possible?
regards

add machine script almost succeeds
All -
I am in the process of writing my own "add machine script" to use with
Samba 3.0.20a and our OpenLDAP setup. For the most part it seems to work
fine. If I run the script from the command line, I can see that the entry
has been added to LDAP. If I then go to the Windows machine and tell it
to join the domain, after giving it the Admin login and password it
connects up with no

No full administrator-permissions on local machines with samba 3 domain login
hi,
does anybody know about the following situatuion and it's solution ? we
configured an samba3 as pdc - sure in the way it was often described. but if
we login on a windowsXP as domainmember (member of the admin group) it seems
like we do not really have full administrator-permissions. we can add useres
and can do some other tasks only an administraor is allowed to do. but some

samba 3.0.2a (ported from 2.2.8a) with LDAP failed to add machine account
Hi all!
Domain is up and running. I can add users and they can change passwords.
Problem occurred when I tried to add machine account.
add machine script works fine (unix user created) but samba can not
modify entry. LDAP permissions are proper.
If you have any idea welcomed.
Thank you

weird home share problem
Hi list
During my samba3 pdc ldap backend set up I encountered a new problem. I
configured in smb.conf the mounting of the home share as followed:
logon path = # I don't want roaming profiles
logon drive = H:
logon home = \\homeserver\%u
logon script = logon.bat
[homes]
comment = Home dirs
valid users = %S
read only = No
browseable = No

Simple question - Machine / User relationsip
Can someone explain to me the mechanizm that Samba uses to relate
Machines to Users? I am trying to set up a Samba-LDAP PDC and it seems
to work OK but I get "No mapping between account names and security IDs
was done." This would seem to be a simple user/group
ownership/permissions thing. Now I have the following potentially

samba 3 ldap pdc
Hi list!
I set up a new Samba 3 PDC with ldap backend. In our network, there
already exists an old samba 2.2.8 PDC with ldap backend. Now I have two
PDC named DOMAIN1 and DOMAIN2. Because in our network, there are a lot
of windows NT4 and W2k workstations that are loggin on to DOMAIN1, I
don't want to join every workstation to DOMAIN2.
Is it possible to shut down DOMAIN1, and configure

BDC and password change program
Hello,
Just wondering what I should be using for the password change program on a BDC.
Should it be:
passwd program = /usr/bin/smbpasswd -r <PDC address> %u
I'm having a problem with passwords not staying in sync between the PDC and BDC
with pass backend ldap.
The systems are all Fedora Core 4, Samba 3.0.14a, openldap 2.2.23

Enter or quit a samba's domain in pdc
Hello
I configured my domain under samba pdc. with bind and dhcpd for the network,
and samba for the sharing. Having correctly configured the global (I think,
because in workgroup it works very good, and testparm finds me no error), I
obtain following both problems:
1. Refusal to join the domain. I modified well the key in my Windows, I
was kind enough to change domain. That recognized it

add machine script problem with Fedora core 5
I am having some trouble with Samba 3.0.21b-2 as a PDC running on Fedora
core 5. In particular, on-the-fly creation of machine accounts using the
"add machine script" parameter does not seem to work. In smb.conf, I
have the following line:
add machine script = /usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null -g 100 -s /bin/false

NT groups vs Unix Groups
Hello,
I'm not clear withs groups mapping between NT and Unix Groups.
Configuration :
PDC : NT4 box (PDC won't migrate to samba)
Samba 2.2.8a (UCLA binary) / AIX 5.2
Security = domain.
Some NT users and groups have more than 8 cars.
For the users, we have the "usermap" file, seems to work fine.
What is the solution for the groups ?
On the other hand, is the NT group membership

Dragging between DIVs with Prototype/script.aculo.us
Hi,
I''m fairly new to script.aculo.us, so hopefully this is the right place
to ask this question. I have the following situation (pseudo-code):

<Droppable 2>
</div>
<div (scrollable)>
<Draggable 1>
<Draggable 2>

Basically, my Draggables are inside a scrollable <div> element (the

last day of month values

I have a stock market trading values time series. What's the best way to
extract the "last day of month" values. I looked at function window() but
doesn't appear suitable for this since it expects regular dates.
Thank you.

Machine accounts, Samba 3, NT Domain migration
Greetings everyone
I finally succeeded in doing the seemingly most difficult thing, "following directions." I got my act together configuring the smb.conf and migrating using net rpc vampire into tdbsam. There are issues with this migration in which computer netbios names which are obviously all uppercase were not being created in /etc/passwd. I put my C cap on and converted the computer

fitting of all possible models
Hi,
Fitting all possible models (GLM) with 10 predictors will result in loads of (2^10 - 1) models. I want to do that in order to get the importance of variables (having an unbalanced variable design) by summing the up the AIC-weights of models including the same variable, for every variable separately. It's time consuming and annoying to define all possible models by hand.
Is there a
