Question regarding Login Scripts
Hello all, I have a quick question regarding SAMBA and the way it handles login scripts. Currently I am running a small network at home consisting of a FreeBSD server running SAMBA 3.0 and I have multiple Windows XP clients on the network. I have configured login scripts with SAMBA, however they are not currently executing during a login. Now, my question is, is it possible to have SAMBA

next-server and tftp
Hi, A colleague of mine today showed me his dhcp/tftp configuration with pxelinux. He booted, from the network, an intel based machine with no disk. I was impressed. So I looked at the configuration he was using and it was simple....he had ISC dhcpd v2 and a tftp server configured as detailed on your web site. Curious, I suggested that he move the tftp server to another machine (on a

Compiling Samba on AIX 5.2: compiler cannot create executables
Hello, today I tried to compile Samba 3.0.2a on an AIX 5.2 system with Visual C++ 5.0.2. configure failed with the error message "compiler cannot create executables". I have read this message before on a linux system and was able to fix it (if I remember correctly) by installing cpp. But cpp is already installed on AIX. Was anyone of you able to compile the current samba version on

Wierd winbind results
Hi all, I have a Samba 3 machine joined to a AD Child Domain, which is a member of a large forrest. The machine joined the AD domain fine and it can query/log in to it. However for some reason Winbind is showing incomplete information. wbinfo -g shows groups from every domain in the forrest as it should, though wbinfo -u does not, it shows some of the child domains but does not show accounts

Replacing WinNT 4 PDC with Samba PDC
Hi All! Thanks to all of you that responded to my previous posts. I've gotten a lot more info now than I used to have! But I still have questions. The biggest right now is: Is there a way build up a Samba PDC as a direct replacement for an existing Windows NT 4.0 PDC? All the material I've found to date is written from a standpoint of creating a new domain as you create the Samba

Dfs - Load Balancing
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with using the Dfs functionality within Samba. I've been searching for any performance information and or documentation regarding Dfs in particular load balancing i.e. 1) How does it load balance? Is it some sort of round robin? 2) Is there a limit to the number of servers that can used in the load balance? 3) How many requests per

Mail Alias Stores in mySQL Not working
"In an earlier post you said your user_query was: user_query = SELECT CONCAT('/var/vmail/mail/', maildir) AS home, 5000 AS uid, 5000 AS gid, CONCAT('*:bytes=', quota) AS quota_rule FROM mailbox WHERE username = '%u' AND active=?1' Last post you said: mail is stored at /var/mail/vhosts and: mail_location = maildir:/var/mail/vhosts/%d/%n These don't agree

Wierd Error "The directory name is invalid", Moving to 2.2?
Hello, I have samba setup as a PDC, user level security, and I have some wierd errors on Win2k clients (I know they cant join the domain etc). In a nutshell, when i double-click a file such as: \\server\share\x.txt in explorer, it gives a "The directory name is invalid error". I can, though, do a sendto->notepad and it works fine. I also can file|open->file in notepad. This

Wierd problem with rysnc.
Hi folks, I'm having a problem with my rsync between two areas between a WAN. The problem is really odd. I have a script that runs every night. Lately, we've been having problems with rsync. The source side is an ordinary file while the destination side is a symlink. We've been having problems with rsync deleting the symlink and repacing it with the source copy despite having it in

Wierd encoding problem
I put the complete error description into a gist (https://gist.github.com/5d2cef1414f1643fca5a) for better readability. The basic problem is that a properly encoded Json post request gets decoded an a very weird way. For example a "ΓΌ" which is encoded as "\u00fc" in uft-8 becomes ">\x93" or "~\xD4". I get different results ever time I run the decoder.

Re: Zpool output is wierd after export/import.
> Perhaps we should allow users to name disks when they''re added, > as well as labeling them with the internal ID? Yep, that''s on the list. In a large config you really want the ability to name disks by location, e.g. "rack 5, shelf 2, slot 3". Even on a desktop, names like "top", "bottom", and "external" would be nice. Jeff

Wierd to_a issue...
When I go to save a model, I get tons of these: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.2.2/lib/active_record/ associations/association_proxy.rb:214: warning: default `to_a'' will be obsolete It looks like the warning is coming from method_missing! Even stranger: the model saves correctly in the development environment, but under certain conditions it does not save in the production
