Question on Samba 2.2.1a
Dear listmembers,
we have a medium size network (~50 people) using samba for mainly fileserver
purposes on a Sparc linux (SuSE linux 7.3, kernel 2.4.20) system.
Every other time people face difficulties when copying files from the Novell
or Windows network onto the samba shares. Let's say you want to copy a file
called "dummy.doc" onto the samba drive. Then a file with that name is

Attaching to Netware-Server
Dear listmembers,
recently our sysadmin turned off the support for ipx-protocol. Since then I
found no way to mount my home-directory on the net (novell) on my linux box.
Using ipx, I had had the same servername etc) I found a lot of discussions
about the way vice versa, but no FM I could R to manage around this issue
(i.e. mounting a Netware volume on a linux box).
Anybody out there having an

Question on log-in difficulties
Dear Listmembers,
I am using a SPARC ULTRA 60 / running SuSE sparc linux 7.3 as server for our
M$-Network. I recently installed samba-2.2.8a from SuSE (compiled src-rpm),
since then I am facing problems when attaching to the server for certain
users given specific conditions.
When saying reconnect at login, the reconnect at login fails, whereas the

[Fwd: [suse-amd64] OFF-TOPIC - *very* bad]
I saw this on the SuSE AMD64 list & decided to pass it along, since it
seems like a sneaky problem. Later posts confirm it is *NOT*
AMD64-specific, nor SuSE 9.3 specific ....

SIP hanging
I too am having this problem reported by Frank Hoonhout. Asterisk runs fine
for a few minutes and then stops accepting new calls. (I have a standalone

error in logs, but system appears to work
I'm bringing up a system with dovecot that has been running for years with uw-imap. In making the
switch, I put a tail on the log file, made the switch, and sent a test mail and received it. I was
able to receive mail with no apparent difficulties, but the log file was disconcerting. A number of
users connected during the few minutes I had it running, and for each of them there was an

LocalWinProfiles
Hi,
I do not know if the following is a samba or windows question. It seems
to be samba question, and I do not know windows and any windows mailing
list... (But I am pretty sure if I ask the local IT persons, they will
say it is samba...)
I have a windowsXP computer in my win domain (planning to have more XP
and win2000) and a linux server with samba. Samba is PDC, win profiles

Using AD, one more try - "successfol auth" and crashing auth process
Hi,
I have no success in using AD with dovecot.
The little checkpassword script I cooked up that uses ldapsearch to lookup a user DN (with an authenticated bind) and then ldapsearch with an authenticated bind for that DN again works well.
* Approach 1: use a service account to bind to AD, lookup the user DN, and bind to that DN.
It fails. The LDAP config looks like:

2.0.14 doveadm proxy list segfault
Hi Timo,
Periodic segfaults with doveadm proxy list:
root at director1:~) doveadm proxy list
doveadm(root): Error: LIST failed: Disconnected
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Sometimes it's just the 'LIST failed' error, other times it's the error with
the segfault. Usually the first attempt to call it works, subsequent attempts
fail.
I've attached a strace log of it in

Unable to mount SMB shares under Mac OS 10.6.5
Help -
(I'm new to the list, so please be gentle) I've tried Seagate support, and Apple Forums with no resolution or adequate suggestions for troubleshooting/resolving this issue, so I thought I'd try the samba community. It's a bit esoteric for me/most Mac users (SMB shares under Max OS X), but I thought I'd give it a try.
I can no longer mount any shares from my Seagate

Two Linux books I recommend
I would like to recommend two (2) Linux books that might be helpful to
some of the people reading this mailing list:
(1) "Red Hat Fedora and Enterprise Linux Bible", by Christopher Negus.
Published by Wiley. Buy the edition for the version of CentOS you are
using. This book is very easy to read and is probably best for Beginning
to Intermediate users. This is the book I reach for
