Samba 3 and NTLMv2 support
Hi: I have Samba 3.0.2a running on Fedora Core 1. This server is set to be Domain PDC and I am looking to have clients attach to it NTLMv2 only. After looking over the man page for smb.conf, I have set the two options that I thought would accomplish: [Global] lanman auth = no ntlm auth = no On the workstation side, I have set HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\lmcompatibilitylevel

SAMBA 3 as PDC - W2K/WXP Pro logon trouble
I have a Samba 3 PDC running with an LDAP backend on Red Hat 8. All authentication appears to be working correctly but I can't login to the domain from a W2K or WXP Pro workstation after I have successfully joined them to the domain. If I login locally to the workstation I can browse the Samba shares just fine. I have checked the schannel and sign or seal settings on both the workstations

Migration: server with smb 2.2 -> new server, 2.2 too, weird issues
Hello all at the samba list. The other day there was a migration of server; the old one had Samba 2.2 (.6) working normally. Every user logged in the domain without problems, their SIDs and the domain SID were right, everything was ideal. But a server update was needed, and a new server was installed, also with Samba 2.2 (.12). The difference in version is not important this time as other

Deleting Roaming Profiles
Hello, If you don?t want (Who wants ?) to save roaming profiles under Winnt\Profiles, than you have to change, or create (if not exist) a registry string: Run regedt32.exe and locate the key entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Microsoft\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Add (or change) the following string: DeleteRoamingCache Standard value is 0, it has to be 1 All the Best. --

[OT] DeleteRoamingCache=1 doesn't work
I have a Samba server which I set so that Windows clients have roaming profiles. It works but when the user logs off, his personal folder in C:\Documents and Settings remains there, although i created the key DeleteRoamingCache (as a DWORD) in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon and set it to 1. It seems a problem with the Windows client, but I'm not

roaming profiles - filesyncing problem with 3.0.10
Since I upgraded from RedHat 9.0b / Samba 2.2.8 to Samba 3.0.10 I have problems with the roaming profiles of my students. Although the log-files show no errors at all, several users reports me that they are loosing files. One time I saw the problem myself, when a user logged in and had not a single file in her 'Personal Files' after logging out and logging in on the same host the whole

Can't login to Samba PDC
We're trying to migrate from a windows NT domain to a Samba domain. I've installed Samba 3.0.2a with an LDAP backend. The server seems to be running fine as I can browse the shares from a non-domain Win2k workstation after a successful password check. The workstations join the domain just fine but after I join them to the domain I can't log in to them. I've checked my schannel

Moving roaming profiles between domains, risky?
OK, now i've to start to move the big part of my users from my old NT-like domains to my new AD domain. I've setup roaming profile in the new domain following the wiki (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles, 'using windows ACL') and for new profiles works like a charm. But i've tried to move/copy old profile to the new domain, and seems work, with

Machine accounts, Samba 3, NT Domain migration
Greetings everyone I finally succeeded in doing the seemingly most difficult thing, "following directions." I got my act together configuring the smb.conf and migrating using net rpc vampire into tdbsam. There are issues with this migration in which computer netbios names which are obviously all uppercase were not being created in /etc/passwd. I put my C cap on and converted the computer

Win2k logout exception error with Samba 2.2.3a-12.1
I am running Samba 2.2.3a-12.3 as a PDC on Debian 3 (kernel 2.2). All seems to be working with 2 exceptions. The worst problem is when I logout of my Windows 2000 desktop. While the Win2k machine says it is "Saving Settings..." it will come up with an error box giving me a fatal exception in application unknown. The message box title says something like: "SAS Window:

My PDC Conversion Project
I have 3.0.2a (with about 75 machines/users) installed as a PDC for my Win2k users and found an oddity. (waiting for a bin version of 3.0.3 for RH8.0) All was fine before I left 2.2.8.... But now when users hit <CTL>-<ALT>-<DEL> and change the password, they get "domain not available". When they log in, they get the logon scripts to execute, and anything else I do to

Win7 login script not running
I?ve got a 4.1.3 Samba PDC Server on Debian Wheezy. It?s running in Classic mode ? all existing clients are Windows XP Pro. I?m installing a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit PC, and have managed to join it to the domain, but can?t get the user?s login script to run. The login scripts work fine on XP. The pertinent sections of smb.conf contain: logon script = %U.bat logon drive = G: [netlogon] path =

Adding computer account - username could not be found
I'm trying to add a computer account as root and I am getting the following error: "the user name could not be found" The root account appears in the smbpasswd file and I have access to the server when I use the root credentials. I have the following in the smb.conf file to add users: add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null -g machines -c "machine account" -s
