AW: samba configuration multiple ethernet card
Ok, and then? in file smb.conf.192.168.0.1 [global] ... bind interfase only = yes interfaces = eth0 ... [FOR_ALL] ... in file smb.conf.192.168.0.2 [global] ... bind interfase only = yes interfaces = eth1 ... [ADMINS] ... Does this configuration works? Is this a good solution? i really don't know, so what's the global thinking about this. -- Information Systems

benchmark adn threshold
Hi all, i'd like to know if there is a tool like an injector that permits to increase progressively the load onto a Samba server. My aim is to define a threshold as the number of concurrent users connected and accessing shares simultanously on a samba3 PDC. I don't care about network transfer rate. thanks for your answer

PDC/BDC without WINS
Hello, Our company is trying to implement central Windows Domain at HQ and replicated across all its regional offices. The implementation will have a PDC/LDAP-master on HQ and BDC/LDAP-slave on each regional office. In the hopes of saving bandwidth we are trying to avoid the use of WINS between WAN links. Is there any way of not using WINS and still have the clients find the PDC (for updating

[Samba/LVS] Howto, coming soon ...
Hi all, I've built an LVS architecture for Samba PDC to get load-balancing for very large community of users. It intends to make an authentication processes repartition, offers load-balancing on shares access as well. I'll try to complete a draft for the end of next week. All feedback will be really helpful. AS/U as a member server on a SAmba PDC
Hi team, I actually managed to join AS/U (version 4.0 on AIX) into a domain, with a Samba PDC. Samba tells me that the AS/U server is a member, but there is still some failing dialog between AS/U and Samba. For instance, I can't access to AS/U's shares, it seems that I fall into a timeout, and more presumably a schannel error (even increasing log level gives me few informations...).

PDC/BDC Questions
Software: OS: Redhat 9 Samba Ver: Samba 3.0.0 (Plus excel writelock patch, waiting for 3.0.2!) OpenLDAP Ver: 2.0.27-8 Just a quick question about PDC / BDC interaction, my plan is to distribute Samba (with slave ldap backend) BDCs to remote facilities, as well as have one on each network segment in the hopes of avoiding unnecessary nmb broadcast traffic. My question is this: Will the PDC /

samba PDC and BDC with ldap master and slave backend
Hi all ! In the samba-Howto, i was looking on informations on how to set up both a samba PDC and a samba BDC controller with ldap backend. I can read: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Do not install a Samba PDC on a OpenLDAP slave server... Possible PDC/BDC plus LDAP configurations include: . PDC -> LDAP master server, BDC -> LDAP slave server.

Is this how "trusted domains" work in Samba 3?
Hello all, Samba 3.0.1 on Sun Solaris 5.9. I need to get my story straight before I ask the people with the necessary access rights to do the Samba setup. I would appreciate it if someone could validate my story below. Thanks! Simon. The situation: * There are 2 domains: - EMEA (PDC=EMEAD01,BDC=EMEAD02) - NLRESOURCES (PDC=NLRESOD01,BDC=NLRESOD02) * Users have accounts on the EMEA domain.

Authenticating to BDC with LDAP backend
Hello, I'm still trying to get this straightened out. I have the following system: System description RedHat 8.0 LDAP 2.1.23 Samba 3.0 I have basically 2 BDC that I want users to have home directories on. These also run LDAP backend as slave servers. Do all machines using the domain need to have machine accounts on the PDC or do some that use the BDC for home directories need to have

LDAP Samba BDC
Hi, I was wondering if a Samba BDC should be able to create users and computer accounts when connecting to a LDAP PDC server? Should the add scripT lines be included in a BDC's smb.conf file? Normally, as far I know, BDC should just log on users. Or am I wrong? Thanks,

SAM from NT BDC to Samba
Hello!! A customer of mine recently experienced a catastrophic failure of their PDC, and their BDC is not running as stable as we'd like. They've agreed to move PDC/BDC schema to Linux (currently they run NT4). So the question is: having ONLY a BDC available for SAM database, how do I extract that so I can replicate that to Samba and do a "transparent" upgrade (if possible)?

PIPE\lsarpc initialisation failed !
Hi all, I encounter a problem when I try to connect a Samba3 server as a BDC on a ASU HP/9000 PDC server. We manage to start the communication between both computers, but it doesn't achieve it. It failed when trying to bind to PIPE\lsarpc. Can anyone give some help please ? Let's note that I can get the SID from net getlocalsid command, and that I can list all share with administrator

Switch roles of PDC and BDC machines?
I've got two sites that I am planning a Samba3/LDAP implementation on, each will have its own local server. The problem is that I want to implement in my local office first, which is not the site that eventually will be the 'master' site. Sometime later when the proper master site comes online, I'd like to demote for lack of a better term, my local machine to a BDC and then

step 2 - samba-3 PDC & BDC fail-over with 2 LDAP servers fails
> -----Original Message----- > From: Andrew Bartlett [mailto:abartlet@samba.org] > > passdb backend = ldapsam:"ldaps://ldap1 ldaps://ldap2" > is what you want. This helped me a little bit forward. I suggest to add this line also to samba-pdc help. But still I ran into problems. I fixed the passdb lines on PDC and BDC. If the second server (on PDC slave-ldap and on BDC

OT: Work offer - SAMBA consultant required in Sydney, Australia.
Hi all - sorry for the off-topic posting - just that the list of consultants on the samba site is horrendously out of date! I thought that this would be the best place for me to find suitable resources... firstly I would like to say thanks a million to all the samba team for your ongoing efforts and great product. I just wish I had more time to experiment with it! We have the startings of a good

Migration issue
Hello everyone, My samba has been running so flawlessly, I don't think I have posted here in about 2 years! But, the time has come to move our windows domain from NT 4 to windows 2000. Currently, we run samba 2.0.7 on an old RH 6.2 box which hands off all authentication to the NT4 pdc (we have no bdc currently). I would like to keep this same style of authentication -- where the samba
