Hi All; I'm currently trying to expand my Samba env by including my IBM z/800 mainframe running 64 bit RHEL v3.0, CUPS printing environment into Samba. When I start Samba, the nmbd dies almost immediately. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE with samba samba-3.0.4-6.3E
I learned the new samba configurations for samba-3.0.2-6.3E on a RedHat Enterprise 3 system. I could successfully create a domain master or a samba server to work as a connection to a domain master on another subnet. I then upgraded another system to Redhat Enterprise 3, copied over the smb.conf file from the system that was working as a connection to a domain master. I modified the

Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3
There have been several issues fixes since the 3.0.2 release of Samba. One of the most important issues is a problem with password changing after applying the patch described in the Microsoft KB828741 article to Windows clients. I want to run Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3. The version provided by RedHat is samba-3.0.2-6.3E. I can't find any other RPMs or SRPMs for RHEL3. Any help you can provide

Ghost Image + Winbind = Panic
I had a test machine up and running Samba, joining an AD domain, and set up with winbind... when I ran "getent passwd" it would list all the local users, and all the domain users. I could also log in as a domain user without any problem. So, I made an image of the hard drive, and copied it to 7 other machines. Now, those 7 are having a strange problem. I changed the names and IP's of

winbind fails
We have a windows 2003 dc here at the university and I have successfully setup samba-3.0.2-6.3E on a RHEL WS3 machine. The problem is that after several hours, or several days winbind stops running and connections fail. I have seen instances of this on other sites, but no firm answers. I can provide files and logs if helpful

Samba 3 problem with users not being able to log on from some machines but they can logon from others
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated on this matter, as I am pulling my hair out. I have a Samba PDC running 3.0.2-6.3E. My problem I am experiencing is that I can have the same user (lets say John) be able to log in from workstation A. Sometimes, that user can not log into another workstation (say workstation B) on the domain. Yet other users can log into that workstation B with no problem.

OS/2 error while accessing samba share
I have a Samba server running version 3.0.2-6.3E on Whitebox Linux 3. The samba server is joined to a NT4 domain. I can access the share from my XP Pro box just fine. But, accessing the samba share from an OS/2 box results in an error. I am able to map the share just fine using 'net use'. But when I try to access the share within the GUI, I get the error: "No objects were found that

malformed broadcast packets ?
Hello All, I recently upgraded to Redhat AS3 from an older 7.3 installation. With samba 3 (3.0.2-6.3E is the rpm version), I've been seeing activity that wasn't present before. Every 15 minutes (within a few seconds accuracy), I receive an alert from our SonicWall (firewall appliance) reporting that a "Malformed IP packet dropped." where the source was the upgraded server, and

Directory listing delay with WinXP and IPtables
Sorry if this has been covered before. I setup a new Samba server using RedHat EL 3, and samba 3.0.2-6.3E (the version that comes with Redhat). We were seeing an intermittant 20 seconcd delay when grabbing a directory listing, but only from XP, win 2k was fine. I couldn't completely nail down when the delay occured but it seemed to be when the directory or share hadn't been accessed

issue joining domain samba 3.0.2
I am attempting to deploy a number of NT 4 style domains in a single organisation using samba with an openldap backend. Reading the following thread I was under the impression that it was possible to use an LDAP slave as passdb backend: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-February/080216.html When I have the master listed as the passdb backend joining a W2K workstation to the domain
