Samba files
Hi . I've got a LAN containing a linux SuSE server(domain server), and some few windows machines(workstations). When i log in as a user on a windows machine and open the homes directory, i see files begining with a dot (.) . I've tried to read man pages and adjusted the smb.conf file so as to eliminate the files begining with dot (.) being viewed on the workstations but all in vain.

printer-access not possible after change of dns-name
Hi there, I ran 2 years a perfect samba 2.2.12 on a suse 8 machine, acting as a pdc with w2k-clients. Printing was done with raw-printing over smb to cups (client-side drivers). The old dns-name was "server.localnet", the netbios-name "server". After changing my internal dns-system to "*.example" there is no access to my printer (hp photosmart 1000)

Something passed from Samab to the client, or some thing the client does? QUESTION#2: How/what/where/why is there a difference in the results of click on "Command Prompt"? My Setup... I'm

One instance is using local auth (historical) the other instances is using our newish domain for authentication. We're slowly migrating users over to the domain so having both methods available was the solution we came up with. Yesterday we had

invisible server
Hi, I've got a few samba server in my network, but one of them is "invisible". I cannot do a nmblookup on it (even from the server itself), but I cannot telnet the port 137, thus it should not be a problem of firewall. From windows xp machines, I can connect specifying the IP address, while from win98 machines I cannot (I got an error like network name does not exist). The

Strange behaviour on Win98
I am currently trying to integrate a Samba v2.2.5 server into an NT domain. I have already succeeded to join the server into the domain and have authentication working (security = DOMAIN), but when I'm trying to access it from a Win98 client, it sometimes says "network name not found", although the server is visible in the "network neighbourhood". Then, after waiting a
