reload smb.conf & terminate connections
Hi.
I'm developing a command line tool (a GUI is following) for easily sharing
local directories as an unprivileged user.
After adding shares smbd reloads its config file (via SIGHUP). Under Windows
new shares appear immediately. If removing a share, samba reloads the
smb.conf but it has no effect on established connections. I can still
access the share even though it has been removed.

smb.conf Parameters
Hi,
I am looking at upgrading our existing Samba installs to 2.2.8
Some of the installations contain the parameter "shared mem size" in the
smb.conf file. This parameter does not appear to be available in ver 2.2.8.
Is there an alternative parameter or is this now defunct?

Disable AD checking per share in smb.conf [sec=unclassified]
Hi,
Is it possible to have non-authenticating shares on an server with security=ADS ?
I have a RHEL server, with Centrify Express, and joined to a domain, but I would
like to have a samba share that doesn't request a username/password for machines
not on the domain.
When I have a plain windows XP machine (not on the domain) attempt to connect, I
get asked for a username/password.

solaris 10 -zfs - smb.conf
I'm desperately looking for an example of a working smb.conf file for solaris
10 using zfs ?
I've been trying so many possible combinations of the available options, but
I can not get it working properly.
I want to mimic simple NT acls, including inheritance, and the possibility
to add AD groups.
I often get stuck on deny aces being generated as the first aces in the acl.

smb.conf username map entry does not work
Hi folks,
I have got the following setup:
OS: CentOS 7.5 1804 in a HP DL120 server
Samba AD member server with standard Samba 4.7.1 from the CentOS 7.5
distribution.
I have got a problem that the "username map" entry in smb.conf does not
seem to have any effect at all. In the mapping file there is a mapping
from Administrator to root. But when I run id Administrator I do not get

smb.conf works for 3.4.0; doesn't work for 3.4.7
Some may remember all my issues trying to get one Samba server to mount
shares from another Samba server. Well, I decided to completely reformat
my laptop with Ubuntu 10.04, and start over (leaving the other Samba
server at Ubuntu 9.10)
(to recap - I have a Win2003 AD (not R2), with SFU installed)
I took the smb.conf from the 9.10 server (running 3.4.0) and loaded it
on the Ubuntu 10.04 laptop,

Standard procedure for changing smb.conf
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
What is the standard procedure for making edits of smb.conf take hold?
For example, what I'm seeing is a share that has given R/W access to a
user named Tom, when I change Tom to read only, he is still able to
write to that share until I stop Samba and restart it.
The documentation seems to refer to a 1 minute reread of smb.conf, but I

conf checkout
Hi gang,
I see that some posters today don't do full (or any?) backups
of their Asterisk systems/configuration. This may (sort of) help you.
Since pretty much all Linux systems have some sort of PERL installed, these
two files will let you make a quick copy of any configuration or other file
you might be about to change or destroy.

winbind requires restart after boot
I'm running samba 4.5.6 on Fedora 25 installed from packages as a member
server in ad.
After a reboot, 'id username' (where username is an AD account) returns
nothing.
A 'systemctl restart winbind' and voila! 'id username' shows what it
should.
I've been looking into the files in
/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/
and have backed off.
I tried adding a

Generic smb.conf file
Hi,
Does anybody know where I can get an untouched
smb.conf file? When I used samba-swat, it rewrote
smb.conf and deleted out the comments that was in the
original file that came with samba.

tr: Aggregate values in one dataframe into a list of vectors of different sieze
I just found out what I was looking for, aggregate did the trick:
AggregatedList <- aggregate(data = Sample, Value ~ Name, list)
Hope this will help someone else!

Use of specific DCs within smb.conf
This doesn't really answer your question, but it already looks like you're
using SSSD for authentication, and specifying local DC's (instead of DNS
lookups). Why not bind to AD directly with that? Using realmd/adcli makes
it easy, and with a minimal samba installation (libs only)

Hello,
If I make a change to the smb.conf file. Can I simply invoke
'smbcontrol all reload-config', or must I kill all samba services and
restart them?

smb.conf question
While the Samba server is running, does it ever refresh the contents of the smb.conf file, or do you have to restart the server for it to see changes to the smb.conf file? Thanks in advance.

using more than one ldap server in smb.conf
Hi!
I'm trying to get Samba running to accept more than one ldap server in
smb.conf. I applied this patch
(http://groups.google.com/groups?q=smb.conf+second+ldap+server&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=ar08ok%241pjt%241%40FreeBSD.csie.NCTU.edu.tw&rnum=5)
to the samba (2.2.5) sources, but samba doesn't query the second ldap server I
specified in smb.conf.
Is there
