Issues with SAMBA 3.0.0/NT4/Roaming Profiles
Hi. When I turn on a NT4 box and log on a SAMBA 3.0.0 server, the roaming profile is correctly loaded. When I logout, the profile is also correctly saved back on the server. The problem begins when the next user (another user) logs in. Don't know who, but SAMBA or NT4 will load the last logged user profile. I.E.: i turn on a NT4 box, log in as 'daniel', log out, log in as

Samba 3.0 and XP roaming profiles
Hello friends, I am running Samba 3.0 on RHEL4 server. Around 200 roaming profiles are also configured and they login to XP machines. Things are working for us except in network rollout scenarios. We dont know how to roll out patches or some global changes to all the profiles. We have to visit each and every profile (loggin each of them) to do even the small changes. Today we have to map a

roaming profiles unknown issue
when I try to log on in my samba+ldap pdc sometimes Xp tells me that it doesn't find "the network path to the profile" but I can see all the shares including my profiles if I browse it after loggin in. The drawback is that I can login but my profile isn't updated. Is this a common issue, do you have any advices? Thanks -- Guglielmo Dapavo

Caution: "admin users" and roaming profiles
This is information that might be useful to others, as it drove me nuts until I could figure it out what I did incorrectly. I recently installed the 3.0beta and moved everything from 2.2.8a. I'm still in testing mode, so I rejoined the domain the the few test machines, and have been deleting and rebuilding test user profiles as I check things out. The problem I had occurred with the

[Samba 3.0.10] Trouble with roaming profiles: win XP clients 'network name not found'
Hi all! I have a problem and I can't seem to figure out what is causing it. Because of this I think it's important to tell the whole story... One of my clients has a small office network, where these used to be a Samba 2.x.x server using smbpasswd acting as PDC. A few month ago I installed a new server with samba 3.0.9 (now upgraded to 3.0.10) and OpenLDAP for authentication (as

HP8100 & samba
just having finished this *MOST* frustrating exercise, here's what i ended up doing. i downloaded a file from the hp ftp site called: hpwj_solaris_en.tar.Z (see http://whp-web1.extweb.hp.com/cposupport/networking/software/SOLd615.PKG.html ) this is a complete configuration setup utility that configures your solaris machine to serve the printer. and then you point samba to the solaris

NT4 roaming profiles not being saved completely
Hi :) I'm working with Samba 2.2.5 (Debian unstable) and have been trying to get roaming profiles working correctly. My test client is NT4 (SP5) which is able to log onto the domain correctly, however even if I do things like change the background colour, change registry entries, put stuff on the desktop, when I log off the account, only some of the profile is uploaded. I say 'some'

printing from windows via smb print server
Hi All, I have two boxes running samba 3 on fedora2. Box A is the primary domain controller & smb file server and we (a primary school in QLD, Australia) can login from our windows 98 machines with samba verifying usernames & passwords. This week I've been trying to setup Box B as a print server (and eventually limit students' printing sprees). I've connected the

W2K Sp2 in NT4 domain and roaming profiles on samba 2.2.3a
Hello samba-insiders, we have a WinNT 4.0 SP5 PDC and our samba 2.2.3a is member of the domain. The roaming profiles of our clients stored on the samba 2.2.3a server. All seams to be perfect but only clients with W2K SP2 cannot use there roaming profiles. ---> "Access Denyed" is the W2K errro message. But if the same user loggs on on a client machine with W2K SP1 all things are ok.

Upgraded from 2.2.7a to 3.0.0 - funny with roaming profiles
Well, I did a test install of 3.0.0 today (different base from the old 2.2.7a incase it all went wrong). Everything seems to work (minor glitch failing to read the documentation carefully enough), but the roaming profiles appear to be broken. What I'm seeing is that the profile isn't loaded and a vaguely default profile is provided instead. I'm not seeing any error messages
