tkey-gssapi-credential and bind (Samba4)
So I am in step 10 of the samba4 howto (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO#Step_10_Configure_kerberos_DNS_dynamic_updates); my bind9 is 9.7.3 which seems to be current enough for this. In it we are to add tkey-gssapi-credential "DNS/samdom.example.com"; tkey-domain "SAMDOM.EXAMPLE.COM"; to /etc/bind/named.conf.options. Since my test domain is test.domain.com,

TKEY is unacceptible [SEC=UNOFFICIAL]
UNOFFICIAL Hi, I have a SAMBA4 box (CentOS 6.5, SAMBA 4.1.7) that joined a 2003 domain and I have transferred (not seized) all FSMO roles to the samba box. I demoted the 2003 DC (had to forceremoval). The Samba box now is the sole DC and DNS server on the network. I followed the instructions in https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2014-February/097703.html for repairing the domain

Migrating Win2000 PDC to Samba4 AD
Hi! We want to replace an old Win2000 Server (PDC). As we've already some Samba4 AD-Controllers up and running we would like to migrate to that setup. Unfortunatly we're not really good at Windows-Stuff - our main Focus ist Linux. So perhaps someone could point as to a good (and ideally painless :-)) way to migrate. So the current setup is: A single Win2000 PDC used mainly as

3 OS/2 Server, 120 user, we waited to avoid W*-Server, is now the time? How?

consensus trees/groups from clustering
Hi, I wish to build consensus groups/tree from a set of bootstraps from a clustering algorithm such as hc or k-means, but can't find an R-function that does this. Does anyone know of an R procedure/function which allows one to build such consensus groups/tree .? Many thanks, Andrew ******************************************************************* Dr Andrew E Teschendorff Hutchison/MRC

I have had a very strange experience upon my migration to samba3 and an Active Directory environment. I've migrated over 12 linux boxes that were previously tied into an NT domain without issue, there is one however that is behaving a bit bizarre. When I try to mount a share on this box by its new hostname \\sambabox.newdomain.com, I get a password prompt, which should not appear. If i use

Samba logs created with IP addresses, not names
Hi Folks, I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on a Mandrake 10.0 box. It is a domain member server in a 2000 domain and everything seems to authenticate nicely. I have winbind smbd and nmbd all showing up in my processes list and it all seems happy. The shares all work fine and my domain users can autheticate. Yay! I can resolve workstation's names from the linux box with "ping

Printserver and Passwords
Hallo, I must install a separatly printerserver for our PCs, a sun with solaris 2.5. The Win95/98-PCs connect the server with samba (1.9.18p10). The server shall not ask for a password if somewhere connect the printservices. But the server allways ask for passwords, not only at the first time. This Problem is only for win95, win98 works ok. Here my smb.conf: [global] printing = sysv

Mandrake 9.0: rpcclient problem exporting printers to samba for windows
I am new to CUPS, after working for 4 days to get printing from WinNT to Mandrake 9.0, I give up. Here is the problem: the /etc/samba/smb.conf is setup with [printers] and [print$]. I copy the postscript drivers from adobe. I then tried to export a printer to samba with the following command cupsaddsmb -v -U dwoody canon It did all of the commands successfully except for the last one. which

Broadcast probe blocked by firewall
Hi to all. I have an unusual problem on a Linux box: sometimes the box is invisible to the Windows clients, I have to restart the service to restore proper operations. I think to have traced down the problem. During bootstrap, eventually Samba initialize itself when the iptables firewall is not yet completely initialized. During a little time the firewall is rejecting broadcast requests. I

Windows 2000 Scheduler Permission Problem
Hello, I'm struggling with a Samba 3.07 installation on a Debian Sarge system. This system is used as a backup server and a scheduler job on a windows 2000 server should backup some data on that system. The integration of samba and the Windows 2000 domain works fine, as long as we interactivly access the samba box from the windows server. In this case the user is recognized

trouble joining AD domain.
Hi all, I'm running samba-3.0.25b w/Linux 2.6.16.27 (SUSE 10.1), newly compiled. I've joined the AD domain (which is a subdomain) whose PDC is Win2K3 server and which is running in native mode but allowing NT4 members. From the HOWTO, I followed the instructions - manually created the computer account, then did the "net rpc join ...." and successfully joined the AD

High cpu load
Server is PII-350MHz/256 MB RAM, hardware mirrored high speed SCSI disks. Installed is SuSE 8.2 with Samba 2.2.8a RPM, XFS filesystems and LPRng as printservices. Server acts as PDC and WINS server. Clients are W2K SP2 (a few with SP3). There are +/- 100 clients. We see a server that is 100% busy and we see during a long time a very high CPU load (60- 95%) related to one W2K client. When

date created attribute doesn't seem right
Greetings, I've setup a samba server (ver 3.0.14a-3) on debian sarge. When I copy files to the server, the 'date created' attribute is always the same value as the 'date modified' attribute. The 'date modified' attribute remains the same, but the 'date created' changes as noted above. I also have a snap server which has the same type of behavior. It is my

Can't access a linux server using a Win2K client
Hello all. I am new to Samba, so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I have been unable to figure this out. I have a Red Hat 7.1 box (kernel 2.4.9) with the Samba 2.2.4-2 RPM installed. I am trying to configure it so that Windows 2000 machines within my company's Windows domain can access it. Before diving into anything exotic, I am trying to get this to work without requiring any

3.5.1 64 bit windows printing is working a bit
Hi, although I don't expect any answers (like most of the times) , here is my experience so far: I run a samba printserver for +3.000 hosts and 600 printers with a correct setup successfully. So be sure, everything is plugged in, I tried to turn it off and on again, I RTFM'ed and so on. Here is my most successfull attempt to get the printservice going on 3.5.1 and windows 7 46 bit
