ramdisk_size
Hey All,
I'am using pxelinux to try and boot a 200meg uncompressed (approx 50
compressed) ramdisk onto a machine with 512meg of ram. It looks as though
I'am running out of memory (attempt to access beyond end of device error).
Is there a limit on what we put for ramdisk_size? Or Is there other
limitations?
thanks

Unable to mount root fs
Hey all,
I'am able to use pxelinux to successfully boot a particular kernel and
image on various IBM PC's ex. 6287-41U and 6591-34U. However, using the same
setup (ie. dhcp, tftp, pxelinux.0, pxelinux.cfg, networkcard, bootrom,
ram memory) on an IBM 6282-73U my kernel and image decompress fine but I'am
getting a...

pxelinux
Hello H. Peter,
we use pxelinux to start linux on desktop pcs. Now we have a problem
with the interaction of dhcp. If the ip address is not fix, we cannot
use the ip address as name for the configfile. A better solution would
be, first to check for the mac and then for the ip address.
Is it possible?
TIA,
Tobias

password changes with ctrl-alt-del
Currently I'am using samba for file sharing. My smb.conf file is basically
setup as default with a few minor changes. Therefore, my samba server is
not part of a domain. Right now users can map the samba shares with
windows XP... With this type of setup is it possible for them to change
there smbpasswd using ctrl-alt-del? If so any examples or hints on how
to set this up would be great.

Breakpoints for multiple variables using Segmented
Hi all,
I am using the package ?Segmented? to estimate logistic regression models
with unknown breakpoints (see Muggeo 2003 Statistics in Medicine
22:3055-3071). In the documentation it suggests that it might be possible to
include several variables with breakpoints in the same model: ?Z = a vector
or a matrix meaning the (continuous) explanatory variable(s) having
segmented relationships with

smbldap-populate issues?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi guys,
I appear to have some issues with smbldap-populate, this used to work
fine but I've recently upgraded the dev box from RH8.0 to Fedora Core 1,
I assume it's related but I'm not sure exactly how...
As you can see the first ou creates work, so it must at least be binding
to the ldap server, but it seems to have a problem with the

Plotting with direction of axes reversed.
Over the years there have been inquiries to these lists as to how to
produce plots with the direction(s) of axes reversed. In response to
some of these inquiries, I have provided a function call ``rplot''
which automated the procedure for such axis reversal.
Recently Herberto Ghezzo of McGill University pointed out to me that
there was a bug in my code. I have now fixed this bug (and a

rsync: error writing NNNN unbuffered bytes - exiting:Connection reset by peer -> NIC driver problem!
I was seeing rsync errors which caused my system installations to fail
repeatedly and absolutely. See the error I reported to this mailing
list back in June in the Forwarded Message below.
When I replaced my NIC cards (realtec chip, 8139too driver) with Linksys
cards (and Dec Tulip driver for linux) the problem ceased, rsync worked
like it should, and does so repeatedly.
My suggestion would be

Question about AGNES by Rousseeuw et al. in the package "cluster": How many clusters?
Dear all,
I am no stat wiz and I am just trying to use the AGNES algorithm at my
very modest level of statistical of understanding. I have difficulties
understanding the ouput from AGNES. My question is: how to interpret
the output, especially how do you I know which cluster solution is the
best? In SPSS, an Agglomeration Schedule table is produced and I used to
look at the biggest jump between

I am attempting to use rsync to copy a large filesystem from an

This operation fails. A small directory from the same HP-UX server

The HP-UX server is the source. It has 1Gb RAM - the output of bdf for
the volume the source files is on is:

ntwork problem
I switched my file server's hard disks from a p-2 350 to a p-3

unconfigured the old one. I may have messed up the static ip

network. How do i check the ipaddress asignment and also ensure
the proper linksys LNE-100TX driver is loaded?
