samba 4.1.3 -- multiple bugs & 1, 297 coredumps -- coredump backtrace + full-backtrace included
Hello, A few months ago the distribution I use (Debian Testing) moved from Samba 3 to Samba 4 - I started seeing a lot of problems. Since then there are two bugs I find occurring on a regular basis: 1. Consistent dumping core on a regular basis (very rarely, if ever occurred with Samba 3) a. $ ls -ltr *core*smbd* |wc -l b. 1297 c. $ du -ach *core*smbd*|tail -n 1

Samba 4.7.1 Generating Core Dumps
Hi, We are having issues with our samba server running on CentOS 7. It's generating core dumps and dumping them in the / (root filesystem) directory in the form of core.##### where the # is a series of numbers. Snippets of log files and some troubleshooting commands are below. Hope someone can have a look and see if I should file this as a bug, as there were similar posts in the samba

2.5.6: a number of minor issues
I just picked up rsync 2.5.6 and installed it. I haven't actually _used_ it for anything yet; this is entirely about a handful of minor issues I noticed while building it. You may care or you may not; for simplicity of language (to avoid many repeated "in case you care" and such), the text below is written assuming you care about them all. On a (32-bit) SPARC system, I noticed:

winbindd panic daemon dies
Hi All, can anyone make any sense of the error below, please advise if I need to log this as a bug but I'm not sure how to further diagnose what is happening. This is from my winbindd log file, thanks Andy. [2003/11/07 17:47:59, 1] nsswitch/winbindd.c:main(832) winbindd version 3.0.0 started. Copyright The Samba Team 2000-2003 [2003/11/07 17:48:00, 1]

[draft PATCH] whitelist support for refuse options
This adds support for whitelisting the acceptable options in the "refuse options" setting in rsyncd.conf. It introduces "!" as a special option string that refuses most options and interprets any following strings as patterns of options to allow. For example, to allow only verbose and archive: refuse options = ! verbose archive The "!" does't refuse no-iconv,

[PATCH] Add --preserve-atime switch to rsync
In the past there have been discussions about adding a switch to rsync to preserve the atime on files being copied by rsync. I needed this function for a project I'm working on and decided to invent it. I've attached the diffs. Note that this has the limitations describe in previous emails, namely that preserving atime causes ctime to not be preserved. *** Patch follows *** ***

Adding arguments to the options
Hello, I am developing an application which uses the Rsync. I have added an option for HTTPS in rsync code like '-v' for "--verbose". But now I want to make that option to take the arguments. For that in options.c file, I have added the entry in the array of structure as, > static struct poptOption long_options[] = { > /* longName, shortName, argInfo, argPtr, value,

[patch] fix for "refuse options" ignored due to popt
Hello, I found the reason why "refuse options" is ignored on the server side. When then 5th argument (int val) in the poptOption struct is set to zero, the parsing function poptGetNextOpt() just continues with the next arg, without returning. So check_refuse_options() is simply not called in such cases. The attached patch makes "refuse options" work with checksum and

building problem with rsync up to 2.5.5
Heya All, Im having difficulties compiling rsync. when i run 'make' the build errors out on me. I run configure without any fancy options. The same goes for the make command. I have had this error, or a similar one since version 2.5.1 op to at least v2.5.5 I am using "-O3 -mcpu=i686 -march=i686" as additional compiler flags, however removing them does not make difference.

rsync-2.5.1 / popt patches
The following popt files need patches in order to compile using Compaq C on OpenVMS. These patches should also be needed on a Tru64 or LINUX on ALPHA using Compaq C. Except for the alloca issue, these should work on any ANSI compliant compiler. Operating System: OpenVMS ALPHA V7.3 Compiler: Compaq C T6.5 Compiler switches: /WARN=ENABLE=(LEVEL4, QUESTCODE) SYSTEM.H is doing tests on

new option suggestion '--backup-only'
Hi, How about adding now option '--backup-only' that means making backups only and don't change any destination files? (I posted similar patch a month ago, but the patch was made for nightly snapshot of 20020808, which was tooo old! Laugh at me...) I want to use rsync with LVM snapshot to make incremental backups like below: 1) Make LVM snapshot of file system and mount it.

[PATCH][RFC] space saving incrementals
Please CC me directly as i'm not on the list. I have attached a patch against latest CVS (cvs diff -u) that adds the following functionality. I can break it up if you would prefer it in pieces. Comments welcome. o add compare-perms option This creates a new inode for a file even if only the perms have changed. This way if a file outside of destdir is hardlinked to a dentry inside

patches for copying atimes
Hi. Here's a patch for copying the atimes of files when -t/--times is given. I bumped the protocol to 29 since it sends more data over the wire. It obviously does not send the atime if it's sending data to an older rsync version. It passes all the tests (including the added atime.test) for me on a: Linux Debian/3.0 gcc 2.95.4 (debian), glibc 2.2.5 system. Any questions/feedback? I

[patch] Add `--link-by-hash' option.
This patch adds the --link-by-hash=DIR option, which hard links received files in a link farm arranged by MD4 file hash. The result is that the system will only store one copy of the unique contents of each file, regardless of the file's name. Anyone have an example of an MD4 collision so I can test that case? :) Patch Summary: -1 +1 Makefile.in -0 +304 hashlink.c (new)

improved atime patch
I posted a patch a few days ago that adds copying of atime. At that time, it was just enabled with -t/--times. After some time, we have figured out that that choice might not have been the best. Here's a new version of the patch (relative to CVS) that adds -A/--copy-atime instead. It also includes a test case. Any feedback on this patch and/or the previous one that I posted?

specifying a list of files to transfer
Hi, I don't want to start another --files-from war, but I am attaching an updated version of my patch to allow you to specify a list of files to transfer. The normal rsync syntax allows you to specify a list of SRC files to transfer on the command line. This patch adds some new options to allow you to instead supply a file that contains a list of files to transfer. The previous version of

[PATCH] Replace shell_quote function with %Q and %R printf specifiers.
At the moment the daemon code contains an incredibly hairy function called shell_quote for safely quoting strings passed to the shell. The patch replaces that with a glibc custom printf format (actually two, but very closely related), %Q and %R. %Q is like %s but it safely shell quotes the string. %R is like %Q but it prefixes the path with /sysroot. Example usage (w/o error checks):
