3.0.23d UNIX vs. AD group permissions
We have what may be a very, very bad situation here and I'm hoping
someone may be able to point out either where I'm misinterpreting this
or where I missed the memo.
We're testing 3.0.23d so we can upgrade from 3.0.14a. Our servers are
all currently Solaris 9, and we build samba from source with MIT krb5
and openldap libraries. We have used security = ads since 3.0 after

acls unable to map SID solaris w2k
I think I've looked over every post that has acl or sid or winbind in it. I don't think this has been discussed quite this way.
The symptom is similar to other posts but the environment is a bit different. We can do perms through samba, and we can see acls that have been set using setfacl, but we can't change the acls (e.g., add a user). We get:

Solaris ACLs, the mask parameter on directories disappears
I'm testing SAMBA 3.0.2 on a Solaris 9 box with a UFS file system.
The ACLs appear to be working well with the security tab, etc. However,
once a permission setting has been made from a security tab on a
directory, the mask and default mask parameters no longer appear in a
getfacl. In addition, the #effective permission is incorrect. Has
anyone seen this? I searched the archives and I

Re: 3.0.23d UNIX vs. AD group permissions
I've compiled samba-3.0.25rc3, using Sun Studio11, and linking in
openldap-2.3.21 and krb5-1.4.3 client libraries. The same problem
that I've reported since 3.0.23d still exists. If anyone has a
suggestion, or if I missed something in release notes or anything,
please let me know.
Fundamentally, the SAMBA server is not honouring the UNIX file system
permissions.

UNIX vs. AD group permissions
We've just built a RHEL 5 ES server to test the issues we've been having
with group permissions since 3.0.23 (re: 3.0.23d UNIX vs. AD group
permissions) and we found we have the same issue with the Redhat built
rpm of version 3.0.23c.
The following is the ldap and winbind portion of our smb.conf, the same
as used on our current Solaris production servers:

Instrumentation for metrics
Hi,
We serve a fairly substantial number[1] of ssh connections across our
fleet.? We have hit MaxStartups limits in the past and bumped it up a
few times (currently at 300), but we have no warning before the limit is
reached and connections start being dropped.? What I would love is some
sort of instrumentation that could let us see the highest number of
concurrent pre-auth connections the

princomp error
I am attempting to run principal components analysis on a dataset of
spectral reflectance (6 decimal places). I imported the data using
read.table and there are both column and row headers. When I run
princomp I receive the following error:
Error in cov.wt(z) : 'x' must contain finite values only
Where am I going wrong?

mvr error in PLS package
All,
I have been using a data set to build pls models for three different soil properties. Two of the three models run fine; however I receive the following error for the final model.

Puppet Community Metrics
Last month, we started publicly posting monthly community metrics
reports with all kinds of interesting information about the Puppet
Community. I also realized that I did a couple of blog posts about
this, but I had not posted it here on the mailing list for your
reading pleasure. The latest version of the metrics can be found here:

Font Metrics
Hi All
Newbie to wine here :) I have installed wine, and can get notepad and
winemine up, but when I do, I get a painfully long list of messages and
then it goes into Font Metrics 1.1% - Font Metrics 1.2% untill we
eventually get to 100%. I also tried to run File Maker Pro 5 for
windows, however the window opened and just hung for about 15 mins
before I killed the process. I have checked the

Font metrics information
Hi,
When I ran wine for the first time, font metrics information is built.
It doesn't take a lot of time, but when you are forwarding X session
over half a world, this can be pretty slow and annoying. Well, I know
that there is probably no way how to avoid this, but I think there is a
way how to avoid this when you reinstall wine.
So, question is, where is stored font metrics information

samba performance metrics
Hi,
I am attempting to write a monitor to gather Samba Server performance
metrics. I would like to get raw metrics directly from the server
itself rather than a 3rd party tool. Could anyone point me to docs
or enlighten me on how to accomplish this?
I am looking to determine the availability of the server (up or
down), the number of files requested, any caching information

Is it able to obtain performance metrics from puppet master?
Hello
Is it able to obtain performance metrics from puppet master ( or puppet
dashboard ) ?
I intend to use this metrics in external monitoring system.
Of particular interest are the following metrics:
* list of agents
* time since the certain agent last apply manifest ( to find stuck agents )
* time used to compile manifest by puppet master for the certain agent
* time used by the certain

VoIP call quality metrics: who cares?
Hi,
How much do you care about call quality metrics to collect and analyze
them? What metrics are of interest for you (of course packet loss, jitter,
latency, but what else?). We have collected some for your review and would
be happy to expand them with those you are using in your Asterisk systems.

NHW Project - neatness metrics
Hello all,
Finally find some time to get back to the NHW Project.I was thinking about
making a technology demo, and I wanted to highlight the uniqueness of the
NHW codec that is neatness/sharpness preserving or enhancement. With my
eyes, I can see that the NHW codec has more neatness/sharpness than the
other codecs (x265, x264, WebP, Rududu, JPEG,...), but for a demo there

Calculating R Factor and MOS metrics for VoIP
Hello All,
MOS and R factor are the two QoS parameters used to estimate VoIP call
quality.
I have found that they are calculated from other metrics like jitter,
latency, packet loss,...etc. But, haven't found any formula or arithmetic
rule to calculate them.
Do you have an idea about their formulas or an open source that calculates
them. Is it possible to interpret them from wireshark.
