NTLMv2 in Samba 3.0
I tested NTLMv2 again using the newly created Samba 3.0.2 (I didn't test 3.0.1). It still doesn't seem to work. Has anyone successfully made NTLMv2 work? If so, can I have a working sample of the smb.conf file? I have included below entries in my smb.conf (among other entries): security = server password server = NTDomainController client ntlmv2 auth = yes On both NTDomainController and

LDAP connection leak?
I've set up Samba 3 as a PDC/BDC with LDAP. Yesterday we upgraded from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2rc1, which fixed some client-to-client problems we were having. Shortly after midnight this morning the PDC stopped--the general syslog logs, the LDAP log, and the Samba logs. The only process that seems to continue is NTP, which after start-up does nothing NSS or PAM-related. This leads me to think slapd

questions regarding SAMBA and Windows Terminal Server
I currently have a debian web server, Win2k Exchange server as a PDC, and a Win2k Terminal Server. I want to get rid of exchange and I am looking at putting openldap on the Debian box with email. If I did this I would want to get the Win2k TS to authenticate to the Debian openldap box. If I set up SAMBA could I get it to do so? I want only one place to manage user accounts and since I have

CIFS Session transfer
Hi All, I would like to know if this is possible and if possible what is the complexity. Consider a CIFS client, SAMBA Server1 and Samba Server2. Say a session is established between a CIFS client and SAMBA server1. Is it possible for the SAMBA server1 to transfer/redirect/reestablish the connection to SAMBA server2 without the CIFS client knowing about this? The session between the CIFS

'multi-layered' authentication
I need to allow [read] access to a Samba server using both IP filtering & UserIDs . For a given list of IP subnets, any user should have access. Outside these 'trusted' subnets, I need to do User authentication. I can handle the User authentication OK in several ways. However, I don't see any way to do the 'short circuit' allow for some IPs, then use User authentication

upgrade 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2, problem with homes-share
Hi! We are using Samba 3 in SuSE-linux 8.2 with ldap. After upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 we got following problem: When users log-in homes-share is not allways reachable, so automatic homedrive-mapping and roaming profiles doesn't work. This doesn't happen everytime, but quite often. And after login users can map their homedrives manually. Users have following attributes in LDAP

AW: W2K RAS Server in Samba 3.0.0 Domain
I patched samba to always return ACCESS_GRANTED for testing. So I came to this: IASSAM.LOG [556] 23:23:53:671: Inserting attribute msNPAllowDialin. [556] 23:23:53:671: Successfully retrieved per-user attributes. Dialin now "only" fails with "Dialin not allowed for user", but I'm not able to set it in UserMgr. Is it difficult to map this attribute? Daniel

weird NT error codes
This isn't necessarily a samba problem, but its happening on my domain with a Samba PDC. I have 2 computers running XP Pro that I can only connect to intermittently. All 3 of these machines are joined to the domain and can access domain resources when logged in as a domain user through the Samba PDC. SHIPPING1 always seems to work. SHOP1 and SHOP2 are the ones that allow intermittent

Access to shares for authenticated domain users only
I am running several samba servers (2.2.3a and 2.2.7) in various places as pdcs. Everything seems to be running smoothly, but I can't find any way of restricting access to only those uses who have logged on to the domain. Is this possible? ie at the moment, any user can map a drive to \\server\share, put in a valid user/password pair and have access to that share without going through any

samba3 and CUPS: lpoptions does not work
Hi, I have set up a CUPS queue in the samba server with specific lpoptions (actually, it's a queue to print 2-up on an HP LaserJet4300 printer. I used lpoptions -d NX2-118 -o number-up=2). Everything works as expected when I print from the Unix side. However, when I print to the corresponding samba queue, the options specified through lpoptions are ignored (i.e. the prints come out as 1-up

auth error
I have samba 3.0.1-2 installed on red hat 8 box. I am getting an error when I try to authenticate to this server. make_server_info_info3: pdb_init_sam failed! I have searched for hours and can't find an answer as to what this error is caused by. Can someone at least point me in the right direction? Thanks, -- Russel Oliver Roliver@techsane.com
