I have been using apt-get to maintain the latest version of WINE on my Debian system. Problem? CoolEdit Pro 2000 Crashes Under Wine -- But Only For Me?
According to the application database at the Wine home page, other people have successfully run the audio app. CoolEdit. On my Debian unstable system Wine begins to open CoolEdit Pro 2000 ('wine /home/tilleyrw/Cool2000/cool2000.exe') and then fails midway through the initialization process with the following log: tillarium:/home/tilleyrw# cat /tmp/wine.log.i1J5ID

Wine Setup and Config File?
I have recently added the appropriate lines to my sources.list and done an apt-get install wine, read the included documentation, and run winesetup. Here are the results: tilleyrw@debian:~$ wine Warning: The Wine launcher is unable to find xmessage. This launcher script relies heavily on finding this tool, and without it, it will behave poorly. Wine Debugging Log
While attempting some of the posted possible answers to my wine difficulties, the following debug log was produced. Does this help anyone? Wine should have a option in the debug window which would send the results of a faulty launch directly to the wine-developer list (ala KDE) so that problems can be more easily solved. tilleyrw@debian:~$ wine '/mnt/C/Program\ Files/Agent/agent.exe'

Wine Setup
I am a complete newbie to Wine. I am aware of the wonderful things OTHER people can get it to do as far as running MS apps, but I have never had such sucess. --delete not working when files are pushed to rsync daemon
Hi. I've been having a frustrating problem with rsync that I'm looking for advice on. My goal is to syncronize a set of servers with the same libraries, binaries, and main configuration files without touching the unique data that exists on the indivudual servers. My --exclude-from file is rather extensive but it works great when pulling from a daemon. I'm able to start an rsync daemon

Reverting to etx2???
I am in the odd situation of needing to revert my root partition back to ext2 so that it may be resized. I prefer to use Partition Magic at the moment and it can only work with partitions of ext2, not ext3. I believe that the documentation for ext3 exists at the main web site, http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/. That is my next destination but as the answer may not exist there, I

not mounting ext3, 2.4.10
Hi, I just attempted to convert my only partition, /, to ext3. I downloaded the patch and compiled the kernel with ext3 support built-in, along with the JBD Debugging support. Compiled the kernel and rebooted, everything was fine. Did a tune2fs -j /dev/hda2 on the partition in single-user mode, with e2fsprogs 1.24a. It complained about not having enough space, or something like that, (I have

getting ext3 on suse-7.3? (long post)
greetings. i have been three days now trying to add ext3 to an existing suse-7.3 machine. i am using suse's own 2.4.13 kernel source. here is what i have done: following install, i ran tune2fs -j /dev/hda2 (also hda3 and hda4). .journal files were created on each partition, apparently uneventfully. wishing to avoid ai irreversable situation, i initially edited /etc/fstab thusly:

Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at transaction.c:609:
Hi all (and developers in particular) I just got bitten by this Assertion. The one that starts as in the subject, and ends with: "!(((jh2bh(jh))->b_state & (1UL << BH_Lock)) != 0)" Google reminds me that it was mentioned a few times earlier this year, but I couldn't find any statement saying that it has been fixed. I got this in a 2.4.16 kernel, though the
