Pre Validation failed on 192.168.3.31. Volume gv1 does not exist
Background ....
Three Fedora servers, 34 and two 37.? Upgraded on of the servers to
Fedora 39.? For some reason the 39 server would not rejoin the party.?
So I deleted the Fedora 39 server, manually tidied up the brick on Fed39
(192.168.3.31).? I run peer probe and all three serves are connected.
Now the volume displays [FQDN switched to IPs] as below. So I think I
just need to add the brick

Questions about packaging are better suited for R-devel (so I'm redirecting
there).
My understanding is that R CMD build mypkg, w/o other flags, does a bit more
than tar/gzip: it skips junk files (e.g., .o, .a, .so, etc.). Also, the
--force flag will update the INDEX file.
On Windows, you'll probably want R CMD build --binary mypkg for building
binary package. What this does is

I tried to use compiled html on the following system:
NT4.0 SP6 (with _old_ IE3), R-1.0.1.
R > help(ls, chmhelp=TRUE)
... but nothing happens ...

Building package on Linux and Windows

OK, final stretch now, thank you to everyone who has helped!
(hopefully) final question - what does R CMD build actually do that
tar/gzip and WinZip do not?
I have successfully used R CMD build to create a .tar.gz version of my
package, which installs well and works under Linux - hurray! I naively
thought that all I had to do now was create a .zip version (using
something like WinZip) and

I am using llvm-2.7 and llvm-gcc-4.2.

New wxruby code is checked in

samba NT ACL support problem?
Recently, a problem developed in storing IE5's Temporary Internet
Files on our samba exported network scratch space. In tracking it down, I
found that the Win2k client attempts to set the ACL of the file
"Content.IE5/index.dat". However, the this call ends up setting the mode
of index.dat to 0407 (-r-----rwx), thus making the file unmodifiable to
the user who created it. (This in

WINE Configuration for MDK 9.0!
I run MDK 9.0 which has Win 98 as well installed. I did NOT do any changes to
the configuration file. However, I am able to run freecell.exe and
notepad.exe applications. However when I try to run iexplore.exe after cd'ing
into the mnt/windows/program Files/ directory. The wine just collapeses with
bunch of error messages.
I am just wondering has any body successfully run ie on MDK 9.0

WinZip causes Server to fail - Please help.......
Is anybody suffering from a similar problem or can anybody suggest a cure or
a pointer......?
I've various hardware platforms (both HP & Intel though all SMP) scattered
around remote sites each running one of the following OSs (Redhat 7.2,
Redhat 7.3, Mandrake 8.2 & Mandrake 9.0) each with Samba installed (either
the version that ships with the relative OS or 2.2.5.2 or 2.2.8.2

Windows Vista Issues
This is a repost of a simple question about Windows Vista and R (with
answer), along with a heads-up on other Windows Vista issues that people may
not be aware of and that may impact R development.

Problems installing Winzip 9
Trying to install Winzip 9 under Winetools 2.1.2 - keep getting "Zip
file is damaged, truncated, or has been changed since it was created
etc" so Winzip doesn't install - any suggestions please?

Win98 IE5 on WINE 20009090
I just can't seem to get this working... I've moved a number of OS
level DLLs and VXDs over from WIN98...

samba setup.exe rant part 2
this was previously posted only on samba-ntdom, but that was probably
not the right list so i'm cross-posting to both samba and samba-ntdom.
here's the problem:
on NT4 w/ SP4 or SP5, self-extracting 16-bit install files work just
fine in directories w/ Long File Names.
on SAMBA 2.0.5a, i can get none of the aforementioned files to install
from directories w/ Long File Names.

after a but of hacking with msys and mingw i think i''ve compiled an easy to
install version of the rb-gsl bindings. for those of you who don''t know what
these are, the gnu scientific library (gsl) is by far the best collection of
open source algorithms for scientific computing available. you can read about

Thanks for the sample code. Sizers do appear to have a problem and it''s
on the list to take a look at. I''m currently reworking several classes
and trying to fix some of the big compatibility bugs. I will test your

Just installed WINE on Ubuntu 6.06.. not working(errors)...
I have installed WINE with apt-get wine command. But, when I run any
