AstTapi - Crashes w/ Windows 2000 - Urgent Help needed - May need to hire a developer
We're encountering a problem with AstTAPI crashing on Windows 2000 Workstations. The program we're using is called Amicus Attorney, it uses a standard TAPI interface to be able to dial our clients, but on the 2 Windows 2000 workstations we've tried it on it has crashed, no errors or anything. When we select the Asterisk TAPI driver, the whole windows just closes/crashes w/ no apparent

hypatia problems?
Dear all Off topic to some extent but Ted Harding has just called me to say he is (a) seeing large delays in the list messages when it is sent internally from hypatia.math.ethz.ch. I get only a delay of an hour which is reasonable in the scrap below but Ted reports delays of the order 24 hours, (b) messages he has sent to the list don't appear on it for a long time. Is anyone else

Amicus Attorney
Hi, Amicus Attorney is a server/client Practice Management software for law firms. We run it on a Windows 2000 server. We have our file sharing on SMBS Linux server I run a dual boot PC. I have installed Amicus Client successfully with Wine. The fonts look pretty good. All the database info gets installed fine. Anonymous Samba share across subnets (without WINS?)
I'm trying to replace an old Windows 2000 server that is current set up with a number of open anonymous shares used by a legacy application that must remain in production for a few more years. I spent a few hours trying to create anonymous shares on a 2008 R2 box but gave up. My next idea was to use Samba to create an anonymous share, and following this quick-n-dirty HowTo:

Problem with Win 7 and Samba 3.3.10 PDC (Trust Relationship Between Workstation and Domain Failed)

When we try to register a machine into th domain, it seems to be accepted by the client but we find these messages in samba logs : > rpc_server/srv_netlog_nt.c:_netr_ServerAuthenticate2(555) > _netr_ServerAuthenticate2: netlogon_creds_server_check

"map to guest" parameter
samba defaults to "never" which the developers believe is a good idea. however, i believe the default for NT4 is "Bad Password". would it not make more sense to make the default the same as NT4 as most of the other options do? in our case, we had a user at home with a direct ISDN connection into the office. he logs into his computer with a different password than the domain

10th anniversary of tinc 1.0
Hello everyone, Today is exactly 10 years ago that tinc 1.0 was released. I would have hoped to celebrate this by releasing 1.0.22 and 1.1pre8 today, but this will instead happen in one week. Tinc 1.1 is close to becoming stable, and I hope to release 1.1.0 before the end of the year. The main features of tinc 1.1 are the improved security over tinc 1.0, and a much nicer interface that makes it

Slow initial connect
Hi, I'm running samba on several systems, two redhat 6.1 systems and one Solaris 7 system. On all three there's about a 5-10 second wait upon the first connect before it logs in. This is causing a problem, as on occasion it fails to connect at all - gives no error or anything, just does nothing, especially when double-clicking on shortcuts from the desktop. And the icons for said

AstTapi - Crashes w/ Windows 2000 - UrgentHelpneeded - May need to hire a developer
I have it running on my Windows 2000 mahcine using STI products and don't have much of a problem. I would guess that it might be something on the workstations instead of the AstTAPI. Also, might be a little faster, easier, cheaper to just upgrade your existing workstations? Just a thought. Feel free to contact me off list if you would like. Thanks, Dustin -----Original Message-----

Controlling the precision of the digits printed
Has anyone come across the right combinations to print a limited number of digits? My trial and error approach is taking too much time. Here is what I have tried: > op <- options() > a <- c(1e-10,1,2,3,.5,.25) > names(a) <- c("A", "B", "C", "D", "E", "F") > # default > a A B C D

samba ignores supplementary groups for acl
Hi, I'm running samba 3.4.5 on Centos (x86_64). The filesystem is ext3 with acl support. winbind works fine. Please see below. when I am logged in using ssh, I can list the files in a folder (/var/Share) for which the group "staff" has r-x permissions. The problem is I can't list the folder through samba: $ ssh cyberlab+kent at cladms003 Password: Linux cladms003

Samba compiled from source into RPM (makerpm.sh) and upgraded from version 2. --with-acl-support enabled. Filesystem: SGI XFS (kernel 2.4.21) from CVS. Using Winbind to provide ID mapping from Windows users and groups to Unix users

Supplementary Group Changes
Is there a signal that can be sent to the smbd process, or some other method to tell smbd to reload the user's supplementary unix groups? We do not use Windows Domains and all access to files is controlled using Linux ACLs and supplementary groups defined using a web interface. Currently, when a new posix group is created and given access to a folder, the members of the group do not gain
