Move existing Local Profile to Roaming
Hello: I have a Redhat 7.3 samba server acting as a PDC and running samba 2.2.3a-13. I have a few computers with extensive existing profiles and I want to know if anyone knows of a good way to get the COMPLETE profile to the roaming profile on the samba server. Every manual copy way that I have tried thus far has failed miserably. Thanks, A Cline

Win2k Roaming Profiles problems under NTFS
Hi there! I have a Samba 2.2.2 PDC on linux 2.4.13 with ACL (acl.bestbits.at) support installed. There seems to be a problem with Roaming Profiles. Win2k with local NTFS filesystem will never delete roaming profiles (yes, I have regedited the DeleteRoamingCache to 1). In fact, any time TheUser logs back in, a new folder named TheUser.OURDOMAIN.??? (where ? is an integer) will be created,

But if the same user loggs on on a client machine with W2K SP1 all things are ok. In

Roaming profiles - exclude Application Data from roaming profile
Hello All, I have a problem with my roaming profiles where they are becoming too large due to the Thunderbird mail accounts (stored by default) in Application Data. What I would like to do is exclude this directory from being part of the roaming profile. How can I do this? Also, how hard is it to have some users not use a roaming profile but others continuing to use a roaming profile? We

samba 3.5.6 as PDC & LDAP - roaming profile problem
Hi all; for few weeks I'm trying to implement a new samba PDC server for my school. It is based on debian squeeze and samba 3.5.6 with lDAP backend. I was able to join a computer into domain, LDAP is working, mapping home drive for users also. It seems that almost all works good but with one exeption. The one thing which is broken is roaming profile support. When user is logging into domain

Win98 policies,profiles and logon scripts
I am running Samba 2.2.3a and have my users logging into the 'samba domain'. My WinNT and WinXP users are working fine with roaming profiles and policies. My problem is my Win98 users. The logon script doesn't seem to be working, i.e. when I log onto a Win98 machine (logging into the domain), the logon script doesn't run. I have opened up the permissions to the logon script

More roaming profile-Windows XP Data
Hello, I have a Samba 3.0.2a PDC that I have joined server Windows XP machines to. Joining the domain was painfully enough, but now I am having problems with roaming profiles. We initially thought the problem was intermittent, but we finally figured out that if the same user logs in again and again the roaming profile is found and login proceeds normally. When a second user attempts to

roaming profile does not work for "Domain Admins"
Hello list, I am facing an issue which I cannot explain myself. The roaming profiles don't work for users that are members of the group "Domain Admins". The [profiles] share on the member server was configured exactly as explained on the wiki for roaming profiles. It works like a charm for all domain users, *BUT*: if a user is member of the group "Domain Admins" it

Roaming profile & f-secure problem
Hi, are there any know problems with f-secure scanner and roaming profiles? We have a lot of users with problems syncing their roaming profile from the domain server. It seems to be a problem with f-secure's on-access scanning (may be timeout problem?). Some users have to login three or four times, before getting their roaming profile and not the default profile. System: 3.0.24-6etch9

disabling roaming profiles for some networks only
Hey everyone. We have two offices accessing the same Samba server, which is a PDC and file server. The server is located in one of the offices, but the other office is only connected by a relatively slow link (1.5 megabit/s). I'm looking for a way to turn off roaming profiles only for those users which are at the remote site. (It's a tad inconvenient when it takes an hour or two to

location of roaming profile
Why is it more secure to create a separate share for storing user profiles? I've tested using: [global] logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U [profiles] path = /var/lib/samba/profiles And this works fine. But, why not just put the profile in the home directory? I can see that a user might save a file on the desktop and then not be able to find it. When I previously used roaming profiles on a
