Share USB harddrive
Hi, I have made a share on my normal harddrive which I can access from my Windows client with no problems. But when I mount my USB harddrive and shares it, I can't access it. I have also tried to make a softlink from my normal share to the USB harddrive, but the directory does not show up, when accessing it from Windows. Does anyone know if it is possible to use a USB harddisk as a share

FW: How do I emulate a harddrive instead of a flop py?
OK, seem to have answered my own question... I think. We'll see how it works out. Basically I should've been asking for some help in the dosemu forums because that's where I needed the help. I think I get it now.... mkdiskimage whatever size you need Set up dosemu to boot the precise DOS flavor you want from mounted folder also mount the image as secondary HDD fdisk, format, sys, etc

CDRom Problem?
Just got wine 2005 01 11 installed.. Trying to install diablo 2.. Problem is that whenever I run the install.exe, I get a box that pops up telling me to "Please insert the cd labeled "Install Disc"" which is the cd that I have mounted and am running the install.exe from.. I've tried copying the whole thing to my harddrive and trying it that way, but I get the same results..

Can I get RubyOnRails to read and parse an html file off harddrive?
I do this in ASP to read a special html template that I use, then modify in code before spitting out the resulting webpage. Any ideas on how to script this in RUBY? Do I need a special GEM package? FW: How do I emulate a harddrive instead of a floppy?
OK, I'm really showing my inexperience now, but... The syslinux FAQ states that a DOS-compatible HDD MBR is distributed (I assume that is MBR.BIN) with the package. So how do I then make an image file for use with pxelinux that emulates HDD? Up until now I have only been successful in modifying images made by someone else (I have been using a modified version of Unattended from SourceForge

Detecting harddrive problem
Hi all, Recently I realize the filesystem became Read-only and there is "media error" message in the system log. It has passed several days without notice. I'm thinking of setting up a script to grep that "media error" and send email. Is there more elegant way of doing this? Thank you.

Can Wine be configured to access unmountable harddrive?
Hello... I am trying to run a program under linux using wine called "Recover My Files". This program is designed to recover data from corrupted harddrives contining FAT and NTFS partitions by reading them sector by sector or cluster by cluster. The thing is, the drive in question is unmountable due to logic problems on the device, which it appears is rendering the drive invisible to

Virtual CDROM for Unix?
Has anyone implemented a "virtual cdrom" facility as offered on windows? That is CD images are cached & compressed on hard disk and shared across a network. See: http://www.winmag.com/library/1996/1196/11r24a.htm I have not found any news of a Unix solution. I would like to offer one on a Linux server to Windows clients. It should not be hard to implement with Samba... Thanks

Automounting DFS path published shares under RHEL 5 with Samba?
I'm dealing with a Linux environment with extensive automounting, that also has DFS configurations for the Windows clients of various CIFS systems. I've got CIFS automounting working for various CIFS servers, which definitely has its uses, but I'd *love* to be able to mount the DIFS published paths for the CIFS shares? Basically, if I have shares called \\example1\share1 and

Automounting (hotplug) with HAL on CentOS 5
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I would like to get add a new Wiki entry regarding Automounting with HAL for CentOS 5, since the behaviour is very different than CentOS 4. Main points: - - Making automounting hotpluggable devices work with other WMs - - Overriding the default mount point - - Overriding the default mount options (noexec etc) Small nightmare here to find out how
