computer name instead of username?
Hi, Since the "Failed to verify incoming ticket" problem on Samba3.0.1, I rolled back to 3.0. All the authentication and connection jobs are done successfully for 3.0, and this time clients able to browse to the Samba. However, I keep ask for the username, password when I access to any of the shared folder. The log of client shows: [2004/01/06 17:44:50, 1]

Slow response when using Msoffice
Hi, Everytime I use MSoffice product such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint to open file in Samba share, it takes very long time (at least 1 min) to browse, but it has no problem on windows explorer, I guess it is waiting for some kind of time out as it has no usage on the user CPU power. But not all of the user got the same problem, and it seems most of the case are happened on winXP. Any idea?

Broken DNS makes Asterisk whacky!
Check this out. I recently closed a bug I had written, #495 "ExtraChannel in transfer causes crash" Now I've been able to reproduce it, and somewhat narrowed down the culprit. But before I write another bug report, I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced the following (or would like to try:) When DNS (or outside connection to the network, not sure which) is broken and

Hello list, In the release note of Samba 3.0.6 the following parameter is described: o Maintaining the service principal entry in the system keytab for integration with other kerberized services. Synology NAS Samba Upgrade breaks "Classic" domain membership
Hi, I am not sure it's the same issue, but I had a similar problem when upgrading from DSM 5.x to 6.0 : error after domain join : "Connection failed. Please check your network settings" . With the help of the (very efficient) Synology support, we solved the problem by uninstalling an old Cluster HA DSM package that was installed on the NAS but not used. Just in case it could help.

MS DOS client : solution
Hello, I finally found a solution to allow basic MS DOS client 3.0 redirector to work with Samba. I'm sure you'll find it ugly, but it works. Under CORE protocol, the $"#&^ MS client sends unencrypted passwords to the samba server (maybe there is no support of encryption in CORE, I don't know). So as my clients are either W95, WfW, NT or DOS machines, I simply remove the
