Syntax for a three-level logistic model
Dear People at R help, I am trying to figure out the syntax for a three-level logistic model with a single random effect (intercept): Data Collected My data consist of three levels: level 1 is four setting for each student (setting nested within student), and each student is registered in one of 14 universities (students nested within university). More detailed: A. 2,479 students who have a

classifier for histograms?
Hi, Apology for this question being off the topic (OT) of R, though I expect this list might be the best place on the net to ask this question. In brief, the question is: what classification algorithm can one use if the features are histograms? I have a classification problem, and believe that histograms of the distribution of some values may be the best "feature" to use. To

More voice prompts available now
Thanks to a generous donation by VoicePulse (http://www.voicepulse.com/) there are now a wide selection of useful (and not-so-useful) voice prompts available on my website, recorded by Allison Smith (http://www.theivrvoice.com/) There were some apps and dialplan tricks that people were waiting on release because of a lack of voice prompts; hopefully I received and remembered your requests.

Rice coding
Going in details through the FLAC format specification, I realize that there are 2 rice coding methods now supported for residual encoding. I thought I remembered in the 1.1.3 times that there was only 1 method (with 4-bit Rice parameter) [or was I drunk ? ;-)]. Going through the change log, I didn't find any reference to such an addition to the format. Now, the decoder implementation I'm

Paris Meeting on Dec 20, 2004 - réunion à Paris le 20 décembre 2004
Hi, Just a quick word on this since I was fortunate enough to attend. There were about 18 people, almost all French (if you include the marseillais as French, they may have objections :) Not that I was counting, but there was one female human there. Thanks Mark for your generosity and the good choice in restaurants both this year and last June was it? The souffl? au Grand Marnier was very nice,

Random 502 Bad Gateway
I have moved my project to a dedicated server and I am getting a very annoying behaviour. I am able to view the site just fine when using the ip. The name is properly resolved on my computer, however I am getting "Bad Gateway The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server." This is simply random. The site works for several minutes, then i get this message for some

Some people asked me lately about how professional Dovecot is.
I purely love that kind of crap. As if presentations meant anything, as if there aren't all kinds of scholarly work about theoretical perfect world algorithms and conceptual systems that will never be implemented and are as practical and effective as wings on a pig. Please. I'm reminded of the story about how, during the American Civil War, when the North had finally, after years of

oggenc and SMP
Greets, I'm encoding my favorite Vivaldi Four Seasons CD (my tester files) on my older dual PII-350 linux machines (it's kinda slow with '-b 160' but that's alright) and started wondering - mind you, I'm sucky at C - is it that hard to implement an encoder that uses all the processors on a SMP computer? You're probably running with a 2.2 Kernel, right? The limit has nothing to do in that case with the fs but just the kernel. 2.4.x has no limits. bye, andreas -- "being

can't figure out how to shape the traffic
hello gentelmen could somebody to share with me a working configuration, of course if you have such one, for the following conditions: i have: 1) a ppp0 interface (ADSL modem working as the bridge, connected to eth0 (broadcasting)) 2) my local PC, all connection passes through (working as router) 3) on my local PC 3 additional interfaces are up: br0 - bridge (192.168.0.1 - dhcp), vbox0 (obtains

No subject
However I think it depends on other commits as I get an undefiend symbol when applying jsut this commit to 0.6.0 release, so I guess you'll need to cherry pick several commits to get this working (or just run the git vversion!). I'm currently too drunk to work out what's needed so you're on your own until I sober up or someone else points out more details :p Col

IRIX 6.5 RhostsRSA problems
Hello, I'm new to the list, and I've been having a very weird problem with the IRIX version of portable openssh that I think may be a bug in this platform... I've looked through the FAQs and the man pages and can't find why this might not be working. The ssh binary is setuid-root, both ssh and sshd are told that Rhosts and RhostsRSA auth is OK in their config files, etc. I
