Netbench running on Samba 1.9.18alpha4
I have installed the latest alpha of samba (1.9.18alpha4) with the intent of testing against the Ziff-Davis benchmark NetBench. The compile and install went OK, and I can see the server in the browser and connect to the public share I created (logins work OK). Running the tests in DIAGNOSIS.txt produces no errors also. I can also install netbench and start up the controller from the binary

Samba + Windos XP/2k + Netbench Problem
Hi all, there is a problem with the 'Default: nt smb support = yes' option in smb.conf for at least Samba 2.2.3a and 2.2.4 (on FreeBSD 4.5-STABLE) when using Netbench 7.0.2 on WXP or W2k clients. If the client is set to run 2+ Netbench engines (to simulate 2+ real clients) and 'nt smb support = yes', all but one engine fail pretty quickly, usually during a movefile oder

Netbench controller crashs
Hi All, I'm running netbench against our samba based filer and having I believe a controller problem. When I configure the test to run multiple engines per client (about 5 in my case) and about 20 clients so all together I have 100 engines, the controller crashes. My clients are a mix of NT4, winxp and win2000 systems. If I run the controller on windows 2003, the controller simply

RE Samba 3, recycle vfs and symbolic links
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Perhaps using a MS-DFS share would be more useful in this case? This would allow three real shares: \\server\accounting \\server\personal \\server\public which would appear as \\server\users\accounting \\server\users\personal \\server\users\public. Netbench 6.0/Windows 2000 and samba
Has anyone gotten Netbench 6.0 running on Windows 2000 clients to work under samba? I'm running Samba 2.1.0-prealpha on linux with Windows 2000 professional clients. When I try to run it, it initializes successfully but when it starts to execute a test I get the error "Mix lock of handle 6 for length 1 at offset 2147483538 Failed". I'd appreciate any help. Nothing peculiar

Release date for Samba 3.0.1?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Is there a tentative release date for 3.0.1 yet? I'd like to go live with an official release as opposed to hand patching all the little fixes I've seen on the mailing list (i.e., sorry about that; here's a patch, will be in 3.0.1). PATCH to Samba 3.0.0 to allow interactive --set-auth-user for wbinfo
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 This patch is against samba-3.0.0beta3 (tested), but will also apply correctly to 3.0.0 (release) It makes wbinfo ask for a password if there is no password on the command line. So: wbinfo --set-auth-user=Administrator Will make it prompt Password: This is to make it easier to script wbinfo for nas appliances using expect to allow passwords with

problem building dendrograms to use with heatmap()
Hi, I'm trying to build dendrograms to pass to heatmap(). The dendrograms I build plot properly, but when I pass them to heatmap() I get the error message "row dendrogram ordering gave index of wrong length" (see output log below). I looked in the code of heatmap() and saw that the error was due to a NULL return value from order.dendrogram(), which in turn got a NULL return value

ACLs and Windows 2000 look alike (inheritance of perm issions)
It might help if you view the default directory ACLs using the getfacl utility. These are what will be inherited by stuff created in the lower directories. I would ask yourself if you actually need ACLs at all. The Samba share permissions are pretty thorough and life is far easier without ACLs as you can clearly see what permissions are in use and backups are not an issue. ACLs can quickly

Migrating from NT4 auth with winbind to ADS style auth
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Is there anything special that has to be done to migrate this config? Right now we're using Samba 3.0 with the old NT4 authentication through winbind, the same method that samba 2.2.8 used. If we want to recompile samba and upgrade to the new ADS support, will winbind correctly continue to use the same Windows Username to Linux UID mapping so

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Does samba 3.0.0 need krb5-1.3.1? ACLs and Windows 2000 look alike (inheritance of permissions)
I've gotten samba working with ACLs over an XFS filesystem. Everything works pretty well with knowledge of the workarounds (cannot remove group everyone, etc.) The only major problem I have is that ACLs don't inherit correctly. The default in Windows 2000 is to have a sub folder inherit the permissions of the folder it is in on creation. By default, the Samba share's folders don't

Windows Server 2003 R2

Have they modified/added new features to the core CIFS, RPC, etc. protocols to support some of those features, perhaps in the DFS or other areas? 2. In terms of CIFS, they claim outstanding

hessian in constrained optimization (constrOptim)
Dear helpers, I am using the function "constrOptim" to estimate a model with ML with an inequality constraint using the option method='Nelder-Mead'. When I specify the option: hessian = TRUE I obtain the response: Error in f(theta, ...) : unused argument(s) (hessian = TRUE) I guess the function "constrOptim" does not allow this argument which, on the other hand, is

I would like to use a few certficates: one per IP We are hosting many different domains and I had to use stunnel to ensure encrypted connection for our clients using different certificates. But stunnel isn't a good solution and sometimes I need to restart stunnels because of some of it's
